It was New Years Eve and I was spending it at some party with Ross. I knew a few people but I think the party is one of Ross' friends that even he doesn't know that well. When we got here they seemed to know each other pretty well but I swear I've only seen then talk only a couple times before. That's guys for you.

Ross and I found some mutual friends of ours. They were in our music class so a least we all had something in common, right?

"Here's that lipstick you wanted." My sister Vanessa says walking into my room. She sits down on my bed and makes herself comfortable.

I look over to her and I see her look around my room until she sees a book on my bedside table and picks it up. She looks at the back and front of the book briefly and then starts skimming through the pages. I roll me eyes and walk over to my mirror with the lip stick that she gave me. I start applying it and then Vanessa speaks.

"So where is he taking you tonight?"

"I'm not really sure. I think maybe something casual like dinner and a movie." I reply.

I look at Vanessa through the mirror and see her nodding her head.

I put the lid back on the lipstick and turn around facing Vanessa. I see that she's put the book back now and her full attention is with me.

"Should I bring this or do you think I will be okay if I left it here?" I ask holding up the lipstick.

"If it was me I'd bring it just in case but it's up to you."

I decided I would bring it like she said just in case. I walked over to my handbag and put it in. I check to make sure I had everything, twice. There was this vibe Vanessa was giving off that made me nervous and uncomfortable and I don't know what it was.

"How long have you been with Ross now?" She asks curiously.

"Uh," I think double checking the months in my head. "it was six months this month."

Vanessa does that same nod as before.

"Why?" I ask unsure.

Does she know something about him?

"I couldn't remember that's all. She tells me.

I look at her deciding if something is up with her or not.

"You two are cute, have fun tonight." Vanessa smiles at me.

She walks out of my room without me or her saying another word. I was getting lost in my thoughts of when she was acting so strange when a knock at the door interrupted me. I jumped back a little not expecting the knock.

"Hey Laura how are you?" Juliet asks sympathetically.

I knew what she was doing, I knew what everyone was doing. They were all being careful around me because of Ross and I breaking up. Everyone knows! That's how high school goes. Some people already knew before school came back on, I have know idea how and others guessed. Ross wasn't here, despite my trying I looked terrible and rumours. From that information alone people knew.

"I'm fine just like I was yesterday and the day before that and the day before that and.."

"Okay I see your point." She cuts me off.

It was the same old thing every, single, day!
