It's been three days since I've woken up. Those three days are a blur of questions and needles. I was put on some kind of medicine for depression because apparently I had depression. Haha yah. I guess that happens to amnesia patients a lot. I was also told my parents where dead so yah that was great too. Right now my life kinda sucks. They moved to to a new room with more privacy yesterday. I'm laying in bed trying to sleep when there's a soft knock on the door.
"Come in." I grumble and sit up. The nurse I met when I first woke up who I now know as Rebecca, comes in with a girl that looks just a few years older than me walk in.
"Hey Kylie!" Says Rebecca. Excitement shines in her eyes so I try to look happy for her sake.
"Hey Beccca." I give a small wave. Me and Rebecca have become friends these last three days partially because she's my nurse and partially because she 25 and I'm 17 so she gets me. Sort of. Minus the amnesia part.
"When I was trying to contact your family back in Michigan I came across this number. Well, I called it and it belongs to one of your childhood friends!" I suddenly notice someone else with her.
I squint at the girl behind Rebecca. She's tall, has long brown hair, and big blue eyes that make me nervous. I feel like her eyes are seeing right into my thoughts and I don't like it. Her smile seems to be faked. Her penciled in eyebrows are pulled together just slightly that gave the impression that she didn't like me.
"Do you recognize her?" Asks Rebecca hopeful.
I shake my head and frown. "No sorry."
Rebecca sighs. "Well I'll just leave you guys to try to catch up." She turns and walks out the door. I can tell she's disappointed that I can't remember anything but it's not like I can change that.
"Hi I'm Sidney!" Sidney's voice is high pitched and peppy. I hate it already. She doesn't even wait for me to introduce myself before she begins talking again. "You look sooo great! I haven't seen you in ages. We should totally go do something later like see a movie! I heard you have amnesia so I'll tell you how we met." I put up a hand to stop her.
"I don't know who you are and I'm sorry about that and by the way you can't talk that fast it's making my head hurt." I cross my arms and raise an eyebrow.
Sidney's perfect lip glossed smile twitches and I know I've pissed her off.
"Oh yah, I'm sorry. Silly me haha!" She draws out every word like she would taking to a child.
I jump off the bed and walk toward her slowly. "You know what? I honestly don't think we were that close if I lost contact with you!" I speak quietly my voice sounding menacing and take another silent step forward. "Also I am not a five year old so I suggest you don't treat me like one." Now I'm face to face with her. Well almost since I'm about half a foot shorter.
Sidney's lip curls but she quickly covers it up with a sickly sweet smile. "Oh, I'm so sorry I made you feel that way I didn't mean too. I was only trying to be accommodating. Also I know you don't remember anything before the accident that's why I'm here. To help you to remember!"
I glare at herald wonder why on earth I would ever want to be friends with her in the first place. I huff and spin on my heel and plop down on my bed. "Well don't just stand there sit down." I gesture toward a bean bag chair a the corner. I'm angry at her but I can't understand why.
"Thank you." Sidney struts over to chair her 6 inch heels clicking the tiled floor. When she's settled into the chair she looks up at me. "So what do you remember of the accident?"
I shrug but try to remember anyway.
"Just flashes I guess." I say. Sidney's eyes are fixed on me. "Swerving, getting hit my the truck, rolling down the hill, a-"I'm cut of by a voice in my head. Not like crazy voice in my head but like someone was actually speaking in my head. 'No' it said. Out of the corner of my eye I see Him. I haven't seen Him since the Shadow World. That's what I named the grey area while I was in a coma. I make no indication to Sidney that I see him but I see her glance over at him and her lips part in surprise. She quickly pretends that never happened and fixes her eyes back on me.
'Don't talk about me.'
His voice is only a whisper in my head but it sounds so loud in my ears. My heart races and I feel like Sidney can hear it.
'Calm down'
As soon as He says it my heart rate drops back to normal. I suddenly wonder that if he can speak in my mind can he hear my mind. I get my answer immediately.
'Yes.'
'Can she see you?' I think at him.
There is a long pause before he answers. 'I'm not sure.'
"Kylie." Sidney's voice snaps me out of my mind.
"What?" I ask startled.
She glances to where He was just moments before but he's gone now. "You were saying something about why you remember from the accident?" Her voice was urgent, pressing me to answer.
I shook my head. "That's it, that's all I remember."
Sidney's face twisted in a scowl but is quickly masked by a tight smile. "Are you sure that's all you remember?" She pressed.
Annoyed I look straight into her eyes. "Yes. If you want to here what I remember go talk to my doctor, they already questioned me a bazzilion times!" I growl. "Please leave you're giving me a headache." I wave her away and lay back in my bed.
Sidney's jaw drops in shock at my boldness. "Fine I'll be back tomorrow."
"Don't" was all I got out before she slammed the door behind her.
