"AAAAAAAHHHHH!" Matt screamed in agony. Tears streamed down his eyes as one of the surgeons popped out his right eye. Blood spewed everywhere and Edd looked away. A scientist handed one of the surgeons a robotic eye. Winn chuckled. "Dang, Red Leader is really going all out." He said. Edd rolled his eyes at the comment. When placing the new eye in, Matt screamed louder. A surgeon held out their hand and a knife was placed in it. He quickly cut off Matt's chin. Edd gasped slightly. Matt kicked his legs as far as they could go. Blood sprinkled out of Matt's severed body part. They replaced his chin with a robotic one and stepped back to watch Matt. "MY EYE!" Matt screamed. "MY FUCKING EYE! YOU SON OF A BITCH! ALL OF YOU!" Edd looked away in horror. He sighed quietly. "I'm getting you out today." He thought. He turned back to look at Matt. "I'm getting you out today.." He thought.

When the surgery was over, Matt returned to his cell in an orderly fashion. Edd and Winn had to leave, and Edd started to plot how he was going to get Matt and get out of there. Edd never liked giving up on people but sometimes, they've already gone in too deep. He had to leave Tom behind.
When night rolled around, this was Edd's chance. He knew the guards did a routinely check of everyone was asleep, so he could do it instead. "Hey Winn?" He called. "Hmm?" Winn hummed.
"Can I do the check in the lab?"
"Why?"
"Because it's my first day here and I haven't done anything. I want to do something."
"Hmmm. I don't know."
"I just want to feel the wonders of being a Red Army soldier feels like."
"Well if you put it that way.. I guess so."
Edd smiled. "Thanks." He said, walking pass Winn. He made his was to the lab region of the base and looked for any cameras. Looking up, he saw one and threw his boot at it, making it fall down. He grabbed his boot and the camera. Putting his boot back on, he proceeded down the hall. He searched for Matt's cell and when he found it, he knocked on it softly. Matt looked around and pretended to fall asleep. Edd looked down at the different buttons on the control pad. "Who the hell would need so much buttons?" He whispered to himself. Edd sighed. "Matt." He whispered. "Matt." Matt slowly liftled his head up. "Matt!" Edd whisper shouted. Matt turned around. He slowly walked over to the glass. He was weak and tired. "What do you fucking want?" He asked. "Here to torture me again?" Edd shook his head rapidly. "What? Hell no! I'm here to get you out!" He whispered. Matt scoffed.
"Yeah sure."
"Matt listen to me-"
"-Hey, you were there at the expiriment thing weren't you?"
"I was undercover-"
"-You could've helped me."
"Matt!"
"What!"
Edd looked around and took off his hat and glasses. "It's me." He said. "Edd." Matt gasped quietly. He smiled. "Edd?" He asked. Edd nodded. "Since when could you grow facial hair?" Matt asked. Edd felt his chin. "Oh." He said, not realizing he had grown a small stubble. Matt nodded. "I like it." He said. "Really?" Edd asked. Matt nodded again.
"It looks nice."
"Why thank you."
"You're welcome."
Edd shook his head and blushed. "A-Anyway, I need you to tell me which one opens the door." He said. Matt tried to look over at the control pad. "Ummm I think it's the orange one." He said. "You sure?" Edd asked. Matt nodded. "Okay.." Edd mumbled. He pressed the button and squeezed his eyes shut, preparing for something to happen. The door opened slowly and Matt smiled. "Hey! I remembered it!" He whisper shouted. Edd nodded. "Come one we gotta go." He said. Matt gave him a thumbs up. "I know a place we can run." Edd said, sneaking him through the halls. "Where?" Matt asked. "You don't need to ask anything." Edd answered, putting his hat and glasses back on.

"Just play dead."

Edd dragged Matt's body down the complicated halls of the Red Army base. A soldier looked at Edd. "Hey stop!" He exclaimed. Edd stopped. "Yes?" He asked. The soldier inspected Matt. "Where are you going?" The soldier asked. "Disposal. This one died in their sleep." Edd said. The soldier nodded slowly. "Proof?" He asked. "Well," Edd started, "I was doing patrol in the lab to see if everyone was asleep, when I found this guy lying down in his cell. He looked dead so I opened the cell and went in there. He wasn't movin' and he sure as hell wasn't breathin'." The soldier nodded and let Edd pass.
Edd smiled to himself. He walked out of the base and saw some of the prisoners asleep on the ground. Some had little to no clothing and they were all hungry. Edd sighed and dragged Matt to the fence. "You can stop now." Edd whispered. Matt got up and smiled at Edd. "Hop the fence." Edd instructed. "I've gotta get these people out of here." Matt nodded and climbed over the fence. Edd walked over to the prisoners and woke them up. "Don't worry, I'm not here to hurt you." Edd assured. "Come on." The prisoners slowly followed Edd to the fence, where he helped them go over it. The people laughed and smiled. Thanking Edd for what he did. Edd smiled, remembering what Liam had told him.
Once everyone was iver the fence, including Edd, they ran. No one knew where they were going, but they were just happy to be free. Edd took Matt's wrist. "We're going somewhere else." He told him. Matt nodded and followed Edd. Edd lead them both to the woods. They ran as far as they could, in the deep part of the woods. They stopped once they were out of breath. Edd panted and looked at Matt. "Let's build a new base here." He panted. Matt nodded. "Okay." He said. "But what about Tom?" Edd stayed silent. "You can't just leave him there!" Matt exclaimed. Edd sighed and turned away. "Well?" Matt asked. Edd sighed. "It's too late." He said.
"It's never too late Edd."
"He's already gone! Do you see the way he acts?"
"..."
"It's no use."
Matt sighed. "Okay.." He mumbled. "I promise Matt, I'll try." Edd said, sitting down on a nearby log. "Can we get some sleep first?" Matt nodded. He sat next to Edd and Edd leaned his head on Matt's shoulder.

They stayed there, falling asleep in each other's arms.
