The Yule Ball was coming around and the cold days and nights increased. Ava loved winter for a lot of reasons, but the main reason being how quiet it was. She loved the way that when the snow packed on the ground that it became quiet, like all the sound in the world had gone. Ava felt at ease in the winter, she felt as if it was only her in the world. Sometimes, she thought it was best she was alone, though she doubted it some when she felt the overwhelming need to be comforted by people. Though Ava was never one for fancy balls or dances, she always liked the thought of going somewhere in a nice dress, drinking champagne, and never having to worry about what her parents might say due to the fact that the Daily Prophet wouldn't be there. That's why she liked the Yule Ball so much. She had seen pictures of her mom in her Yule Ball dress, just like she had seen other generations of the White family as well. When Ava was little, she used to dream about the dress she would wear when her time came to go to the ball.

"You're staring off into the distance." Lily laughed as Ava was caught off guard, seeing as she was stuck in a daydream about her dress for the Yule Ball so close in time.

"Sorry," Ava glanced at Lily. "Daydreaming." Ava finished.

"About your lover man?" Lily snickered and wiggled her shoulders in Ava's direction, smirking.

Ava scoffed, knowing who she was talking about. Ava wanted Peter to ask her to the ball but she was a little confused because her and Peter had kissed before and had opened up to each other, but they weren't exclusive, yet. The thought of being with Peter made her smile because she really liked him. He was sweet and caring. Though he could be a little clumsy, she thought it was cute.

"Come on." Lily got up and grabbed Ava's hands.

"Where are we going?" Ava asked, though her question was ignored as Lily dragged her along. But, it didn't take Ava long to see where they were going. The two girls were heading for Hogsmeade.

The town was packed with people and it was quite hard for the girls to get by the crowds of people, but they managed. Lily dragged Ava to a shop down the alley way where there were less people, but still some.

"This is where I got my dress." Lily smiled as she dragged Ava inside the shop, the bell ringing as they came inside.

Ava smiled at all the assortments of dresses in the shop but was interrupted by a voice, "Hello, how are you today, ladies?" The shopkeeper asked. She was a tall woman, she had freckles covering her arms and legs along with her chest and face. She wore a brown shirt and blue jeans with a white apron tied around her waist, holding all kinds of pins, needles, and threads. The more Ava observed the woman, the more she noticed. The tall woman had hair possibly whiter than snow, along with white eyelashes that made her ocean blue eyes stand out.

"Hello Ally!" Lily greeted the beautiful woman who stood in front of them. Ava felt a little intimidated by her beauty but smiled at the thought of the lucky man to have her. "We were just looking at some dresses for Ava." Lily gestured to Ava.

Ally nodded and returned to sewing small pieces of fabric on what looked like a new dress. Though Ava got no time to look, seeing as Ava pulled her farther into the store, where the dresses were.

The two girls scanned the back for what seemed like hours before Lily walked over to Ava holding the most beautiful dress she had ever seen in her life.

(A/N: So I really liked the thought of this dress and I know it's a little revealing but trust me on it

(A/N: So I really liked the thought of this dress and I know it's a little revealing but trust me on it. But, you can imagine any dress you want :) But side note, can we please talk about how absolutely stunning the woman wearing the dress is?! Like DANG! Okay, I got side-tracked, on with the story!)

"Lily it's absolutely stunning!" Ava exclaimed, eyeballing the dress' beauty.

"I know! And I want you to wear it, Ava." Lily smiled, handing the dress to Ava who gratefully brought it to the changing rooms.

"I love it!" Lily squealed, smiling bigger than the Cheshire Cat as Ava walked out of the changing rooms, also smiling.

Ava smiled and twirled around, loving the feeling of having her best friends approval, seeing as her mother never payed attention to her a lot, just her sister.

"What if I fuck it up?" Peter asked James, sighing as he leaned his head against his bed.

"You won't, it's not like she might get asked by Severus, right?" Sirius smirked, earning a elbow in his ribcage by Remus.

"Shove off, Sirius." Peter stated bluntly, looking at James.

"Hey, if I can ask Lily, then you can ask Ava." James smiled, feeling triumphant.

"But, didn't Lily reject you for like the hundredth time?" Sirius cocked an eyebrow, and his statement causing James to shoot him a look that said, 'Shut the hell up' while Peter just groaned, flopping on his bed, feeling hopeless.

<><><><><><>(Time skip)

It had been maybe two or three days since Ava had gotten her dress from the lovely seamstress and it had been maybe a day since Peter had gotten his suit.(I necessarily didn't like the idea of dress robes so just imagine suits.) People had gotten their apparel for the ball, and for a while, the Yule Ball was all anyone could talk about. Boys were asking girls to be their dates, some being rejected, some being accepted. Some took it well, some stormed out of the hall like children who didn't get the toy they wanted for their birthday.

But, then again, there sat Ava White, next to a tree at the Black Lake reading a book. Ava had been into muggle books recently, despite her parents dismay on the subject of muggle things. Though, Ava still kept her hidden stash of muggle books in her closet, away from her sister, who might look like an angel, but is really a demon who would snitch for a damn cookie from their mother. Ava was reading a book called 'Pride and Prejudice'.(Is that how you spell that????)

"Pride and Prejudice, eh?" A voice said and startled Ava as she pulled her book down onto her lap and looked up to see Peter.

"Hey Peter." Ava greeted the blushing young man as she squinted her eyes at the harsh summer sun.

Before she could look back down at her book, he spoke again. "Uhm, can I ask you something?" Peter rubbed the back of his neck, a small smile tugging the corners of his mouth.

"Sure." Ava smiled, closing her book and setting it beside her.

Peter grabbed her hands, pulling her up with little force as she followed his lead. Ava was a little confused because he was walked hand in hand with her toward the Black Lake.

"Are you gonna drown me, Peter?" Ava snickered.

Peter gave no response but just laughed and continued on with a smile on his face before he stopped, not but a few feet away from the water.

"Well, I-I was gonna a-ask if you would maybe want to go t-to the ball with me?" Peter stuttered a bit but managed to get the words out his mouth. Peter rubbed the back of his neck and looked into her eyes.

A smile lit up Ava's face and she wrapped her arms around him. "Yes! Of course, I'll go with you, Peter." Peter and Ava both had a smile on her face as he wrapped his arms around her waist, hugging her back.

They were both so lost in each other that they hadn't noticed a disappointed Severus Snape behind the tree with flowers in hand, ready to ask Ava to the ball.

(A/N: Ladies and gentlemen, I hate to end it here, but that is all the writing my hands can take today, so in the next chapter, drama will unfold, dancing will commence, and kisses will be given. So stay tuned! I love you all so so much!)
