Laughs don't last forever

Chapter one again: 2nd year

    I opened my eyes and took in the beauty of the platform 9 and ¾. I was overwhelmed with joy, I couldn't wait to find my friends. I skipped to the inside of the train practically running through the halls looking for anyone, Draco, Hermione, Ron, Harry, Fred, George, anyone. During the summer we sent each other hundreds of letters(Harry didn't send any letters though) but letters aren't the same as being with them in person.

    "DRACO!" I screamed. "Geez... there's no need to make my ears bleed! I'm right here" Draco said opening his arms. After we hugged we sat down, "Do you have it?" Draco said in a suspicious tone. I handed him a carefully wrapped brown bag. "Cool!" he said, opening it carefully. The brand new iphone seven sparkled in the sun, he had asked for it in a letter with a duplication spell at the bottom of the page.

"Have you seen the others" I asked Malfoy. "No they're probably going to be late" He answered looking outside the compartment. "What happened with Dobby?" I asked (he sent me some letters saying that he would send Dobby to warn Harry about something, he didn't know what but he over heard his dad scheming) "I don't know" he muttered under his breath. When the train began someone walked in...

"Harry and Ron missed the train!" Hermione sounded panicked and out of breath. She slammed the compartment door and sat furiously with a worried expression. Draco and I exchanged glances before I said, "I'm sure they'll make it to Hogwarts Hermione. When Dumbledore notices that they're missing he'll send someone to get them. Besides I don't think Harry would want to go back with the Dursleys, after what he told us about them last year, and Mr. and Mrs. Weasley wouldn't let them miss school." "You're right," Hermione said, relaxing.

We sat in silence for a bit before Malfoy blurted, "Why don't we listen to some muggle music?" "Yes, play Sedona" Hermione agreed. We played a few songs before the twins walked in, they got taller and they got a haircut. "Look out the window!" They cried. "IT'S HARRY AND RON!" yelled Hermione. Draco's eyes widened but he didn't say anything. They were in this turquoise flying car! "I strive to be like them sometimes." I said jokingly. No one said anything, we just sat there listening to the songs that played.  I don't know why but I couldn't stop staring at Fred(Draco noticed this and smirked).

We finally got to the school but the boys were nowhere to be found. "Maybe there inside" I try to reassure Hermione, she nods. We go into the Grand hall and all the first years are lined up for the sorting hat ceremony, Ron's younger sister, Ginny was new and about to be sorted. Draco and I leave Hermione and the twins to go to the Slytherin table. Right before it starts we hear Snape roar at Harry and Ron, "If you were in my house I wouldn't think twice about expelling you!" They clearly moved because Snape's voice faded away. I looked over to the Gryffindor table. Hermione's ears were bright red, even Draco looked like he was planning something.

We got a few new Slytherins but I didn't pay attention to their names. What if Harry and Ron get expelled? What was Lucius planning?

Later that night while I was unpacking my items I got an owl from Hermione,

They didn't get expelled, thank Merlin!  but they lost Mr. Weasley's car and Ron snapped his wand.

I showed the note to Draco, he was both happy and upset.

It was the first day of classes so everyone made their way to the Grand halls. A few first years asked for directions (god was I ever so clueless?). Once I entered the Grand hall I heard Mrs. Weasley yelling at Ron. I walked over to Draco, "How is she-" "Howler." He said not taking his eyes off Ron's red face.

We began to walk to Transfiguration and I could see Ron's face the same color as his hair. It was an exciting day back, we got to make an apple into a pineapple! Then I had herbology. It was the same as last year's plant, a mandrake but this one was a healing mandrake.

During lunch Draco told me that I should try out for the quidditch teams this year (the only position left was beater, and no one wanted to play against the twins). "Come on Lylah. I'm on the team, it would be fun if you were there too. Besides Fre-" " Shut up. You had me at 'I'm on the team'. Bet you only want to play for Potter." I said I was kind of nervous because I've only ever watched quidditch. "You know that's not true. I love quidditch." Draco responded walking with a little jump.

Our last class of the day was History of Magic, it was extremely boring but easy. After school Draco took me to the quidditch field and handed me a small bat. "Hit whatever I throw at you. Don't be scared If you hurt somebody, that's the whole point sweetie!" He yelled from across the field. I was afraid that I would hurt him but I listened to his advice, surly he'd forgive me. When we got on our brooms I swung and hit a few tennis balls at him (seven out of ten tennis balls hit his shoulder). "Ok I think you're good." Malfoy said, rubbing his shoulder.

I went to take a shower and change before going to the library. I hadn't even sat down when Ron began  "So Malfoy told us you're trying out for quidditch. Good for you!" "Umm yeah, but I might not make it, so I wouldn't keep my hopes up." I didn't even look up from my book as I answered Ron. "Well umm I think you'll make it. Just be careful with your surroundings." Ron said with a smile.
