As Sparks explained on his personal website, the novel was inspired by his sister. ... Sparks explained how his sister also met someone like Landon who asked her to marry him, even though she was terminally ill.

- I absolutely loved this movie!! I cried most of it and it was the best star crossed lover romance I could've watched.The way Landon fell in love with Jamie was magical and their love story was inspiring, and beautiful. I loved how all of the characters changed throughout the movie, Landon changed from being a popular mean guy to a loving man who Jamie loved. Jamie opened her heart up to Landon even though she was sick. Landon's friends changed from being rude and mean to Jamie and Landon and changed a lot. My favourite scene was their second date, it was magical and special and made me very sentimental. Love this movie and the characters in it so much!! I recommend this movie to every teenager and whoever is looking for a passionate love story. Harleigh Sirafos
- "A Walk to Remember" is a love story so sweet, sincere and positive that it sneaks past the defenses built up in this age of irony. It tells the story of a romance between two 18-year-olds that is summarized when the boy tells the girl's doubtful father: "Jamie has faith in me. She makes me want to be different. Better." After all of the vulgar crudities of the typical modern teenage movie, here is one that looks closely, pays attention, sees that not all teenagers are as cretinous as Hollywood portrays them Roger Ebert
