The blaring wail of Spongebob's alarm went off for what felt like forever before he finally turned it off. He sat upright in his bed, stretching and letting out a soft yawn. He looks down just below his bed to see Gary, his pet snail, possibly attempting to go back to sleep after being abruptly woken up.

"Good morning, Gary!" Spongebob chimed with a bright smile, petting him lightly. Seems like he was doing much better than last night. He glances over at Plankton's spot and raises an eyebrow, confused. Where could he have gone?

Spongebob shrugged it off, assuming he had already gotten ready, and did the same. First, changing out of his pyjamas and into his work outfit, then makes his way into the bathroom and begins washing himself up, making sure he looked at least presentable.

Soon, he was all ready and began heading downstairs. When he reached the bottom, he seemed a little more puzzled when he noticed that Plankton was nowhere to be seen. There was no time to panic, though, he had to do the last few things on his daily to-do list.

He poured himself a bowl of cereal, pouring the milk in about a quarter of the way. Once he sets his bowl on the table, he takes Gary's bowl and fills it up with the pet food, placing it back down on the ground as his snail companion inspects it for a brief moment before beginning to eat. Spongebob did the same.

About a few minutes pass before he had finished eating. He discards his dishes into the sink, puts on his work hat and waves good-bye to Gary before heading off to work. As he strolled along, he greeted his many friends and alliances that he passed by, while simultaneously looking around to see if he could spot Plankton anywhere.

Nowhere.

Spongebob tried not to think about it too much; he had to focus on his work, or at least getting there on time.

He gets there and checks in just in time. His eyes beamed as he skips into the restaurant, heading to the kitchen, the place he calls his second home.

"Morning, Squidward!" he chimed as he greeted his work buddy. Squidward let out a groan in response as Spongebob made his way into the kitchen, getting ready for the day ahead.

The sky slowly began changing colors as the day comes to a close. Spongebob had just finished cleaning the restaurant and locked it up, Squidward and Mr. Krabs already having left minutes before him. He didn't mind, though, he was more than happy to lock up for them. Then, the cheery blonde made his way back home for the night after everything was secured.

As he approached his pineapple abode, he saw a strange, yet familiar figure in his peripheral vision. His curiousity is what made him stop in his tracks and take a step back to look. His eyes widened. Could it be?

He rushed to the door and flung it open, the figure had no time to react to the sudden sound before Spongebob wrapped his pale arms around them, smiling with pure joy.

Spongebob pulled away slightly to give his new friend, Plankton, some space.

"Where were you?" Spongebob asked.

"I just had to get some excess stuff from my old place," Plankton responds. He didn't want to delve into too much detail, still feeling mentally drained. Spongebob seemed a bit confused, but quickly clicked the pieces together.

"So," he started, "you're staying here?"

"Until I find a suitable place, yes."

Spongebob's smile grew even wider, if that was possible. He wrapped his arms back around Plankton's neck and gave him a big, warm hug, almost suffocating him. He let out a soft giggle of joy, knowing this was the start of a beautiful friendship.
