"Well, here we are!"

Spongebob opened the door and lead Plankton inside his pineapple home. After Plankton steps inside, the door shuts carefully behind the two of them. They were then both greeted by Gary, Spongebob's pet snail. Spongebob kneels down to greet his snail once again, petting him gently on his shell. Then, he looks back up at Plankton.

"You can make yourself at home! I'm going to give Gary his dinner quick," he spoke with a cheery smile. With that, he stood back up and lead his snail into the kitchen, while Plankton went and sat down on the singular, red chair placed right in front of the tv.

Plankton fidgeted with one of his long, black pigtails while looking around the room precariously. The walls were a light blue color, and there wasn't really too much to look at as far as other items. Besides the TV in front of him, there was a lilac sofa placed against one of the walls, and next to it was a small coffee colored table with a phone on top of it.

As he was scanning his surroundings, he could hear footsteps coming towards him. He knew that was Spongebob. Who wouldn't? The saueaky sound of his shoes were too familiar for anyone to not recognize his steps. Plankton took a glance up at the bright, blonde man.

Spongebob sprung his way over to Plankton. Once he approached him, he rested his hands on the right armrest.

"Hey, I'm going to go make the bed for tonight. Wanna come with?" Spongebob asked.

Plankton shrugged. "I don't see why not," he responded. He stood up and Spongebob lead him upstairs to his bedroom. When they got there, Spongebob turned on the lights. Before he started setting things up, he turned his head to face Plankton.

"You can sit on my bed for now. I think I have an extra mattress here somewhere...I'll go look!" He walked over to his closet and scavenged for a mattress, blanket, and a pillow or two, while Plankton sat down on the edge of Spongebob's bed.

It wasn't long before he heard Spongebob's voice again. "Found one!" he exclaimed, coming out of the closet with a mattress that was an exact replica of his. He struggled to carry it, almost tripping a few times.

Plankton looked concerned. "Would you like some help?" he asked.

"No, no. I...I got it!" Spongebob said, confidently, although it didn't seem like it.

After a minute or two, he was able to successfully put the mattress down next to his bed without any casualties. He took a moment to compose himself again and get some of his breath back. He then looked back up at Plankton.

"I'll go get the rest." He started making his way over to the closet again, but Plankton protested.

"I can get it myself. How about you rest for a while? You've done quite a bit already, you deserve a break."

Spongebob looked back at him, giving him a sort of tired smile. "It's okay, I got it. You just stay there."

"No, really," Plankton gets up and gently grabs Spongebob's shoulder. Spongebob stops in his tracks and glances up at him. He continued, "you look exhausted. Come, I'll tuck you into bed."

"But...what about-"

"I got it. You don't need to worry."

Plankton gave him a reassuring smile and lead him to his bed. Spongebob felt unsettled letting Plankton do the hard work, it wasn't normal for him, but it seemed like Plankton would not take no for an answer in this situation. Besides, he might be right. It was getting pretty late and Spongebob was feeling more exhausted than usual, probably from hauling that mattress to the other side of the room, along with everything else he has done today.

Spongebob sat down on his bed, still tempted to jump up and do everything to show how welcomed Plankton is in his home. Plankton can see the uneasy tension in his eyes. He bent down, so that he was face to face with Spongebob, and cupped his chin with one hand. This made Spongebob tilt his head up a but more. Plankton can now truly see how much he wanted to help, but they both knew he was overworking himself.

"Listen," Plankton started, "it's very kind of you to want to do everything, but you shouldn't work yourself to exhaustion. I can tell you really want to help, it's just in your nature, but I promise I can do the rest myself."

"But...you're a guest. Shouldn't I do all of the hard work?"

Plankton let out a small giggle. "Spongebob, you need to check your definition of hard work. Grabbing pillows and blankets is something a five year-old can do." Spongebob gave him a shy, sheepish smile. Plankton continued, "Now, why don't you get ready for bed, hm? You deserve it."

With that, he slowly got up and walked back to the closet to grab the final essentials he needs for his bed. As Plankton said, Spongebob got ready for bed while trying to get all of his worries out of his head. Then, an idea popped up.

"Hey, Plankton?"

"Hm?" Plankton turned to face him, a pillow under his arm and a blanket over his shoulder.

"So...there's going to be matinence going on at the Krusty Krab next Tuesday, so it won't be open then."

"Alright." Plankton raised an eyebrow. "Why are you telling me this?"

"Well, I was thinking that maybe we can go shopping that day for flowers and stuff! For Karen, of course."

Plankton sighed. "Spongebob, when are you going to face the facts? She doesn't want me anymore, nor does she need me."

"Can't we at least try?" He looked at Plankton, who was now making his bed. Spongebob flopped on his bed, so that he's laying on his belly and his body was facing Plankton. "And who knows?" Spongebob continues, "she might really miss you by then! Can't we try?"

There was a pause. Plankton thought about it for what felt like ages. Eventually, he gives in.

"Fine. We'll try."

This made Spongebob light up with joy. He sat up, feeling proud, but Plankton interrupted his moment of triumph.

"But, if this plan of yours doesn't work, you're going to give up on getting us back together, okay?" Spongebob frowned. He doesn't want to give up until there's a happy ending for everybody.

Plankton repeated himself, "Okay?"

Spongebob slowly nodded.

"Good. I'll see you in the morning." They both curled up under their own covers and winded their minds for bed. It took Spongebob a long while, Gary was up in his room and fast asleep long before he even got close. Eventually, he fell asleep, and started counting the days to next Tuesday.
