A cart pulls up to the large city gates, 3 city guards and a mysterious cloaked figure. The guards speak amongst themselves as the gate opens into the large courtyard of Vargenthel. People talked at the shops, children kicked a ball back and forth. Everything was at peace. One of the guards looked back the check on their prisoner, only to discover he was gone. They looked everywhere but he was already in an alley 5 blocks away. He looked up and took off his good, revealing the head of a tabaxi. He sighed out of his short lived relief before a large shadow was cast over the city. He looked up only to see the sun being blotted out by a red dragon. He quickly hid against a wall, hoping it wouldn't see him. He closed his eyes and listened to the sounds of screams and roars. He looked out for a second. The dragon swooped down and began burning buildings, shooting fireballs at anything that moved. He threw himself at the rubble of a tavern and hid behind a short standing wall. He looked around for an escape but saw only a kenku, curiously holding a gold coin he found in the rubble. Upon seeing him the bird dropped the coin, and happily waved at him, completely oblivious. The tabaxi brushed him off and continued to look for safety. He looked behind the kenku and saw a hatch in the floor. He shoved the bird out of the way and dove into the hatch. The kenku quickly grabbed the door before it could shut and began to shout out to survivors about the secret basement. In total, 7 people followed him down. He looked at the tabaxi and smiled. He walked over and said "Bonk"
"This was supposed to be a solo escape, y'know that right?" The bird stared at him for a minute.
"Solo?" The tabaxi loudly sighed and walked away, looking for an exit. He started pressing on rocks liek they might lead somewhere and one of them did.
It led to a long staircase that simply led to the outside of the city. He tried to sneak out without anyone knowing, but of course, the bird noticed, he walked towards the tabaxi, about to say something when he covered his mouth.
"Shut up." He said sternly. "If your coming with me you will be quiet." He threw the kenku up the stairs and closed the door. The outside was untouched by the dragons flames, still raging behind the large stone wall. There they stood, in the middle of a large, open field surrounded by forests. They walked farther into it when they heard the sound of armor clashing together. They both turned at the same time and saw a large man, wearing a suit of knight armor that was shaped like castles on the shoulder and top of his helmet. He stopped about 100 yard from the wall, standing right between the wall and the adventureres. The large man stopped and fell to his knees and began to sob. He screamed and punched the ground with enough force and shake it. Even the tabaxi felt it. The kenku quickly ran over and tried to comfort him.
"Why, sad?" There was no response.
"Why you cry?" He continued to cry.Eventually, the bird sat down next to him and patted his thigh for that was as high as he could reach. The man suddenly stopped crying and stood up. He clenched his fist and said through gritted teeth.
"I swear that if it's the last thing I do. Every dragon will fall by my hand!"
