Harry always knew that Louis would be in his life forever. They had met the day Harry was born, and had been the closest of friends ever since.
It had never occurred to Harry that there could ever be anything but forever between the two of them.
They had made a promise to each other a long time ago, that they would love and care for each other forever. Ever since, when one of them was feeling down, all the other would have to do was remind them they would be with them forever.
Harry knew that no matter what happened with any of those girls, he still wanted Louis to be his forever. Louis would always come first.
Harry sighed, looking into the mirror over Louis' shoulder as he redid Harry's tie.
He didn't want to go to the ball. He was an okay dancer. Louis and he used to dance around the garden together. But, he didn't want to have to socialize with sixty girls, when he would much rather be stargazing with Louis.
"Uggh I really don't want to go to the ball," Harry complained. "I would much rather spend my evening with you."
"It could be fun," Louis said. "And I'll be there too."
"Yeah, but I'm supposed to be talking to the girls. I can't talk to you the whole night."
Louis didn't say anything as he smoothed down Harry's tie, stepping back to make sure it looked alright.
Harry had a tiny secret hope that maybe Louis could find someone to love from all this. He seemed much more open to the idea of the event and Harry wanted his friend to be happy.
"Your Majestys, the first family has arrived. The Queen said to have to down there in two minutes," Niall said.
"Thank you, Niall," Harry said. "You are dismissed. Go eat breakfast, or do something fun." Harry smiled at him.
"Thank you," Niall said, smiling.
The two boys made their way to the entrance hall, quickly spotting Harry's parents talking to the parents of a young girl. She stood next to her parents, trying to insert herself into the conversation. "It's very lovely of you to have me here! I can't wait to meet the Prince!" she said in a sickly sweet voice, relating to nothing her parents had been talking about.
Harry tried not to gag. He approached the small group, Louis' hand grasped tightly in his.
He cleared his throat. "Erm hi," he said.
Everyone turned to look at him. "Princess Eleanor of Greayland," she said stepping forward with a curtsy.
"Prince Harry," he said, awkwardly taking her outstretched hand to shake.
She turned to Louis.
"Oh um," he said in surprise. "Prince Louis of Carilinia."
"Your eyes are pretty," she said.
Louis flushed, looking down at his feet and subconsciously stepping closer to Harry. "Um. Thanks."
Harry felt a rush of jealousy. Harry was always the one to admire his eyes, to compliment them, and tell him how pretty they are. He had to remind himself that Louis wasn't his, and who was he to stop people from complimenting him.
They all looked up to the sound of the doors opening, two servants guiding a new family through.
"Liam," Anne said to one of them. "Please escort Princess Eleanor and her parents to the sitting room."
"Right this way," Liam said to Eleanor, leading her family away.
Harry approached the newcomers with a sigh. "Welcome," he said with a slight bow. "Nice to meet you. I am Prince Harry."
"Princess Gigi," one girl said, curtsying. She tugged on the hand of a younger girl, hiding her face in her mother's skirts. "This is my younger sister Bella. She's only seven, so she'll be going back home with my parents after the ball tonight."
"Hi," she said shyly. "Is there gonna be cookies at the ball? Mamma said there might be."
Harry smiled at her. "I will make sure to put a word in with the kitchen staff. What kind of cookies do you like?"
"Um," she thought about it a moment. "I like the ones with peanut butter and the really big chocolate chips in the middles."
"Peanut butter blossoms?"
She nodded. "And sometimes when I help make them, I like to use the little chocolate chips and make a smiley face with them."
Harry felt his heart melt a little at the girl. "Alright," he said. "I'll have them make a smiley face one, just for you."
"Yay! Thank you!" she cheered, giving Harry a hug. Harry chuckled lightly.
"You're most welcome, sweetheart," he said.
