Chapter 14 - Addison

*After breakfast*

Aiden double-checked his satchel and his eyes widened just as they were about to leave for school. "I forgot my notebook!" Aiden partially yelled

"Who cares?" Addison asked as she walked over to Aiden to the leapmaster

"Uh, I do," Aiden said, a matter-of-factly

Addison coughed. "No wonder you don't have a girlfriend,"

Aiden rolled his eyes, and he walked towards the stairs but Addison held him back

"Foxfire!" She yelled to the leapmaster and dragged Aiden with her as the light whisked them away

"Addison!" Aiden yelled as they entered Foxfire

"Aiden!" Addison yelled, mimicking his voice

He groaned. "Can't you be any more annoying?"

Addison looked into the distance and she nudged Aiden's shoulder. "There's Brooklyn," she pointed to where Brooklyn and Leah were talking. She pushed him forward. "Go to talk to her,"

"What? No!" Aiden scrambled back

Addison rolled her eyes and pushed him forward again. "Don't be a baby- go talk to her,"

Aiden shook his head. "No thanks,"

"Impossible," Addison grumbled

Someone tapped Addison's shoulder from behind. Addison turned around to see who it was. "Ryker?"

Ryker was Tam and Marella's son. He had blond hair and huge ice-blue eyes- basically Marella. But he was a total Tam inside. He was a shade and had the same emo-like characteristics.

"Hey, Addison,"

Ryker looked at Aiden. "Addison's evil twin," he nodded disapprovingly at him

Aiden rolled his eyes. "What do you want?"

Before Ryker could open his mouth for a snarky combat Addison interrupted. "Why don't you guys- best friends by the way- go talk- argue while I'll be over there." Addison pointed to Leah and Brooklyn. "To avoid this stupid argument,"

"It's not stupid!" Aiden yelled but Addison was already making her way to Leah and Brooklyn

"Hey, guys! Whatcha talking about?" Addison asked

"Talking about Aiden- mostly Brooklyn," Leah nudged her head towards a blushing Brooklyn.

Brooklyn was a telepath- she was Aiden's cognate. She had Fitz's eyes and hair but she had Linh's sweet personality.

Addison almost choked on her spit. "What?"

She turned to Brooklyn. "You like Aiden?"

Brooklyn shyly nodded. "He kissed me, yesterday. Remember?"

Addison nodded holding her laughter. "Yup!"

"Burned into my brain," she mumbled out of earshot

"Does he ever talk about me?" Brooklyn asked, curiously

Leah almost let out her laugh

"All the time," Addison says, nodding

Brooklyn's eyes widened. "He does?" Brooklyn almost jumped.

"You should talk to him," Leah said, nodding

Brooklyn sighed. "We have telepathy together. I have to share my secrets with him,"

"Oh, yeah. That must drive you crazy," Leah said, checking her satchel.

"Pretty much," Brooklyn mumbled

*After orientation*

Addison closed her locker while Brooklyn was leaning against the wall next to her. Brooklyn was letting out her feelings but Addison was barely paying attention.

"What if he rejects me?" She asked- what could be the millionth time

Addison muffled her groan. "He won't- trust me,"

"You sure?" Brooklyn asked.

"YES! Brooklyn, I'm sure," Addison partially yelled

Brooklyn looked taken aback from her outburst

Addison sighed and put her hand on Brooklyn's shoulder. "It's going to be fine," Brooklyn nodded. "Now, if you excuse me, I need to get to class," Addison added, ashamed

"Since when do you go to class?" Brooklyn asked.

"My mom told me to, and I can't get grounded again," Addison said and quietly added, "and to get out of this conservation,"

"Bye, Addison!" Brooklyn said as she gave Addison a quick hug. "See you at lunch?"

Addison shook her head. "Got detention,"

Brooklyn looked at her for a flash before nodding. "Of course you do,"

"Okay bye!" Brooklyn said running off to class

*At the end of the school day*

"Addison guess what?" Brooklyn said as they stood in line to use the leapmaster.

"What?" Addison asked as she and Leah turned around to face Brooklyn

"Me and Aiden are together!"

Leah squealed with excitement while Addison gave Leah a weird look. She turned back to Brooklyn. "As in like a-a... thing?"

Brooklyn nodded eagerly, beaming

"Really?!" Addison asked. She almost squealed, but she held it in.

"You're not mad?" Brooklyn asked, tilting her head

"What no!" Addison shook her head.

But it would be a little weird. Her stupid brother is dating her best friend. Actually, no- a lot weird.

"But, if he breaks your heart- I'll break him," Addison said, satisfied with her answer

Brooklyn smiled and embraced her. "Thanks, Addison,"

"No, problem," Addison said, as she pulled away

"Hey guys," Aidens deep ringed through her ears as he stepped in line with them

Addison groaned as she turned to Aiden. "Go to the back of the line,"

"But I'm your brother!"

"Whatever," Addison grumbled
