It was quite an experience. Cassian actually laughed at Zorraine's joke. I forgot the joke though, it was silly.

Things are gonna be much more different than before.

I am immortal.

It's rather overwhelming to be able to live forever. Seeing the world change around me. Not seeing my parents for the rest of my life more than a rare few times. For their own safety.

But at the same time, its exhilarating. With  Cassian by my side, I knew it was gonna be cool.

I was sitting in the empty school cafeteria. It was empty as the school was closed for summer break and I wanted some time by myself.

I was thinking my recent life experiences over. Nathaniel, Jacquelyne, magicians... and how they had changed my view of the world.

There was a slight gust of wind and a soft crack!

And voila, there he was on the bench beside me, grinning like he had accomplished a huge task.

I sighed exasperatedly, "I wanted to be alone, you know." But  secretly pleased.

He leaned back, amused, "You should've gotten better security. And admit it, you're secretly pleased." Damn him and his amazing perception!

"Fine, Mr Cocky. You caught me," I shrugged and looked into his dark eyes.

Cassian gazed back and took my hand in his large, warm one, "What are you thinking?"

I smirked, "Where's your amazing perception now?"

"Well, right now I prefer to know what's on my girlfriend's mind without using my amazing perception."

I looked into my lap, turning pink at his use of the word girlfriend. Yeah, that's right. I still haven't gotten used to it.

"I was thinking of how you entered my life and brought a hurricane with you." I deadpanned.

He laughed, "You mean swept you off your feet? Because that I did".

I wrinkled my nose at the cheesiness of his words, "Oh God, Cassian. You're trying to be funny. It's getting disgusting."

"Alright then, I'll revert back to my scary and demanding ways. Maybe then you'll tell me what's on your mind," he said with a straight face.

I winked at him, "I didn't say I didn't like it, though. You can continue being cheesy, as long as there's no long sappy speeches or stupid martyr complexes."

He entwined his fingers with mine and tilted his head to a side, "You're thinking about your new life."

"You know me too well," I loved the feeling of his skin against mine. I felt safe and invincible at the same time.

"You will be my queen forever, Kiara. And I will always be there for you, no matter what." His eyes held so much sincerity that I had no trouble believing him.

I raised his hand to my lips and pressed a kiss to his knuckles, "And I will be there for you as well. Don't think you alone will always get to be the hero, Mr Mantzari."

He chuckled and put his arm around me, pulling me close to his body, so I could snuggle into his shirt, "Yes ma'am."

Smiling, I looked up at him warmly, "I love you, Cassian".

"I love you more, Kiara," he kissed me gently and I melted into a puddle of cringy, sappy, but contented celeste.

Markus looked at the loving couple, gazing outside the cafeteria windows, happy in each other's arms.

He smiled at his son who had finally found love and redemption. A proud father, Markus was thankful to Kiara Carlyle, the (almost) daughter in law he had come to be fond of.

She had made sure that the dark soul of Cassian found light. She had helped him see the value of human life and the necessity to protect it.

His other children had found peace too. Allyson was finally among people who understood her and gave her the space she had needed. She had the friends she could be herself with.

Zorraine had also found affection in Melliane DeLaney. Mel had nurtured love for Zorraine ever since she had met him and he had finally come to realize that he had loved her too.

The House was a place where young magicians not only learnt to control their powers, they also learnt to use them for causes that would help humanity.

Markus had spent his life trying to steer his children towards nobility of spirit and love for friends and family. But his father and wife had married his efforts and led his children astray.

But a century later, his wish had been fulfilled. They were aware of the graveness of the mistakes they had made and proud of their achievements.

More importantly, they were happy and they had a gleaming bright future ahead of them.

He smiled at the two lovebirds one last time before turning around and walking away.

Towards peace. He could finally rest.

How did you like the epilogue? Do you think I should write about Mel and Zorraine? How about a spin off about Ally?

Heh heh... maybe I will start on my other stories instead. Check them out on my profile:
