Technoblade shot up in his twin sized bed, sweating, shaking and hyperventilating.
On nights like this, he would have terrible nightmares which made those rare nights of sleep unpleasant to say the least.
He had the same nightmare every night. The vision of being thrown out on the street to be left to die haunted him. His part Piglin self being unwanted, a biological mistake. He didn't chose to be this failed experiment but he certainly paid for it.
Normally things like this would get to Techno but the reality of it being a true story made it too unbearable to handle.
He put his face in his hands and started to quietly sob.
After a few minutes of crying, Wilbur, awoken by the silent sniffles of his older brother, climbed out of the bottom bunk to see what was wrong.
Once he realized it was Techno crying, he walked closer to his bed and tapped him on his shoulder to alert him of his presence.
Technoblade, shocked by the sudden tap on his shoulder, looked up to see his younger brother standing over him.
"Why are you crying," Wilbur quietly asked, trying his best to not wake Tommy. "Did you have that dream again?"
Techno nodded swiftly, knowing Wilbur could see him despite the darkness.
"I'm sorry," Wilbur responded, turning on the lamp and climbing onto the bed from the other end.
After a moment of contemplating, Wilbur slowly opened his arms, silently showing Techno that he wanted to give him a hug.
Technoblade reluctantly accepted.
To say he was embarrassed was an understatement. He was supposed to be the oldest brother; this was supposed to be his job but, at the same time, he was in no place to be the comforting one.
They sat in silence for a good two minutes.
"I'm glad Phil found you," Wilbur spoke up, still holding on to Techno tightly. "If it weren't for you, I'd be stuck with Tommy and we both know that that would be torture."
Techno took a break from crying to laugh at Wilbur's remark. He silently agreed with him.
"I mean," Wilbur continued. "You're so much cooler than him! You're part Piglin! How cool is that! You can make people scared of you just by looking at them, like, that's awesome!"
Techno finally spoke up.
"But I don't want people to be scared of me; I don't want them to think I'm a monster!"
"You're not a monster! You're a god! People will worship you one day," Wilbur joked.
"I guess..." Techno concluded.
"Wait," Wilbur stopped. "One sec."
Wilbur quickly let go of his brother and swung off the bed. He made his way to the corner of the room where his guitar was standing up in its normal spot.
As Techno watched Wilbur pick up the instrument, his eyes immediately lit up.
"I know you love hearing me play, so I thought I could play tonight, just for you! I'm sure this'll cheer you up!"
Techno quickly nodded, excited to hear him play again as Wilbur made his way back to Techno's bed.
Wilbur sat back down on the other end the bed and situated himself in a comfortable enough position to play. He methodically fiddled with the tuners to get the sound he needed.
After taking a deep breath, he began to lightly strum at the guitar.
After a few minutes of playing the most beautiful, lyric-less song Techno had ever heard, Tommy seemed to also take notice of the beautiful melody. He awkwardly made his way down the ladder that led to the top bunk, only tripping a couple of times. As he walked towards the bed, Wilbur took notice of Tommy's arrival but did not let it interfere with his playing.
Tommy, with the help of Techno, climbed up onto the bed and snuggled next to him to hear the rest of the song.
Techno couldn't remember the last time he felt so at peace, especially after that terrible dream.
Once Techno noticed he was drifting off to sleep, he silently made a promise to himself that he would be the big brother from now on and he would never cry again.

Technoblade wiped the tears from his eyes.
He missed his brothers, that wasn't a question, but he didn't think he would miss them this much.
Techno tried to just wipe his tears and get up to continue working but, something was keeping him glued to the floor.
For reasons, that are completely unlike him, he just wanted to sit and cry.
He wanted to go back to L'Manburg, back to Tommy and, most importantly, back to Phil, despite the government, which he did not agree with. He was even jealous of the new president due to him being more brotherly to Tommy than his actual brother.
He knew he couldn't go back, he couldn't be there for Tommy, but a small part of him thought that maybe they wouldn't mind too much if he returned.
Who am I kidding, Techno thought. I'd be killed on the spot.
After giving himself a moment to calm down and compose himself, he stood up, knowing what he had to do.
"If I'm gonna get over this nostalgia and homesickness," he spoke to himself. "I have to go to the roots, to the beginning."
He quickly packed a few tools and food, not even batting an eye at the the unfinished basement that he was working on.
After deciding he was ready, he opened the barely useable door and started his long trek through the snow.
He was going home.
