CHAPTER 9

But it bothered Dominic that there were only 4 people. Was that all? Exactly what did they plan to do? So far the threats Rosa had told him were vague and he needed to get some kind of idea of their intent. They couldn't have guns since the luggage had been check twice that left explosives as the most likely method. Was that it? Plastic explosives would do a lot of damage and the place would be packed with innocent people and powerful dignitaries from all over.

Trying to plan for all the possible out comes had Dominic's stomach twisted in knots. He'd been having trouble sleeping, since his partner's death and the tension was pulling his nerves as tight as a bowstring.

He rechecked his emails. The ones that Rosa had sent and again wondered if he'd missed any clues.

Looking at his watch he realized that if she'd taken a muscle relaxer she'd probably be out for at least 5 hours or better.

He sighed.

Roger had suggested that since Dominic was the loving husband, that he shouldn't be seen wandering around the hotel without the fair wife. With nothing to do Dominic decided that a nap wouldn't hurt. He hadn't rested well last night and he'd need a clear head. Knowing he'd never sleep he lay down on the hard hotel mattress and thought about Rosa. Thinking of her he smiled and drifted off. For the first time in a long time he slept a deep restful sleep. No nightmares. In fact his dreams had definitely been of the kissing Rosa kind.

It was late and his hotel phone was ringing.

" Yeah?" He said groggily.

"Well, just thought I'd better give you a wake up call boss," came the cheerful announcement from Roger. "How's married life?"

After a snort from Dominic, chuckling Roger gave him an update on their suspects. The two men had gone down about 6:30 for dinner and drinks in the hotel lounge. So far they hadn't talked to anyone be were watching everyone in the lounge, maybe waiting for a contact. They sat in the far corner so they could keep an eye on the entrance. They were being watched and any move would be reported. The couple had ordered room service and the SSD agent sent in had looked over the room. He reported that there didn't seem to be anything unusual.

"Roger, I want them picked up as soon as they leave the hotel on Thursday. Have your men in position and let me know when you have them. Be sure that you stop housekeeping from touching their rooms. Have our guys go over everything, twice. Keep a tap on their phone, find out if they've placed any calls local or not. We still don't know if this is the full cell. We can't afford to miss anyone."

Roger gave an "Ok boss" and hung up.

Dominic did some therapy exercises for his shoulder to keep the stiffness from causing his fingers to tingle. He did stretches and then stretching out onto the plush carpet he did some pushups to strengthen the muscles. As he worked he planned. He would have to check out the hotel's weight room and do some weights to keep his arm muscles strong. He'd worked too hard to let up on his therapy. There was too much at stake to let it slide right now. When his shoulder had started to ache from the exercises; he headed for a hot relaxing shower. After his shower he carefully shaved and combed out his hair. Need a haircut he mentally told himself as he dried it.

Dressing in casual gray slacks and a crisp white shirt he felt excited and refreshed.

As he dressed he decided to call down for some coffee, tea and maybe some muffins, maybe a little food would help Rosa's headache. Splashing on a small amount of cologne, he wondered if Rosa would like it, he'd used the same brand for years. Shrugging at the thought he straightened his tie then gathered up his wallet. Finally he glanced at his reflection into the mirror and giving himself a thumbs up, he was ready to meet this challenge head on.
