first person

my eyes are closed as water hits my face and drips down onto the shower floor.
it was because i had woken up earlier than usual that i decided to refresh myself and take a very needed shower.

'it's been a while since i've had a nightmare, not since-'

i groan as i step out of the warmth that the water had created, trying not to think too much of the previous subject.

i stare at myself through the foggy mirror, running a hand through my hair as i work through my skincare and hair routine. a pretty bitch had to work to stay that way.

i pick my phone up once i'm done in the bathroom and quickly check the time.

'it's only 7:30'

i sigh at the sight, hoping it'd be a little later.

"at least i won't be late now," i mutter as i get dressed into one of my more presentable outfits- after all, i had an interview to go to.

after getting dressed i put on some makeup which only really consisted of spf, tinted moisturiser, mascara and of course messily applied eyeliner.

"i look pretty good" i mutter as i inspect the reflection staring back at me. my phone suddenly buzzed and i look over my shoulder, not expecting the loud noise.

i pick my phone up for the second time that day only to see that the notification was a message from one of my friends, but i choose to ignore it as they weren't all that important to me.

however, my eyes widen as soon i realise the time

'it's already 8? i better get going if i don't want to be late'

luckily i only lived 15 minutes away from the building so i didn't have to walk that far, although if i had a car i'd be there in 5 minutes. i huff as soon as that thought crosses my mind but i continue walking.

it wasn't cold, but i brought a jacket with me anyway since it wasn't particularly warm either.

after about 15 minutes of walking i realised that i am stood in front of the building that i'm supposed to be taking the interview in.

i walk into the reception area to ask if the interview room is free but before i could even ask the door opens and an older looking man stepped out.

"hey sir!" i try to grab his attention "are you the one taking the interviews?" i question hoping that i didn't make a complete fool of myself.

"yes, that's me," he turned his head to look at me. "and you are?" he answered my question with another question.

"i'm ##### ######, are you free to take the interview now or would you like me to wait out here?" i ask politely, trying to seem as pleasant as possible so that even if i somehow didn't do so well in the interview he'd come to like me and maybe make an exception.

"i suppose it wouldn't hurt to take yours now." he stated and ushered me into the room with him.

he handed me a stack papers with a smile "all you need to do is sign these!" he opened one of his many drawers and handed me a pen

i take the pen and skim through the sheets of paper, not bothering to read it fully, it was probably filled with the same things any other job contract would.

i quickly sign the forms and hand him his pen back.
"so what now?" i ask, expecting to answer some questions about why i'm a good candidate for the job yet i got nothing of the sort.

the man pointed behind me "you'll see a door as soon as you leave, just step right in there"

i turned around to look where he was pointing, though it was meaningless as the door to the room we were in was closed. "wait, so that's it?" i ask, still not quite sure why i only had to sign a few papers.

"well, we can't be picky with who we choose for your job," he answers, grinning. he stood up not soon after and opened the door for me so that i could exit.

"thank you," i nod at him and walk over to the door that the man had mentioned previously.

'that wasn't much of an interview, was it?'

i roll my eyes at the thought and step into the waiting room, i was surprised to see that there was only one other person there.

i gulp as soon as i realise just how intimidating the man looked, he had a frown on his face and didn't even turn around to look at me, and although he looked around the same age as me, he was much taller, overall just bigger than me.

i swallow the lump that had formed in my throat and sat down next to him, "hey," i greeted, trying to seem as indifferent as possible. he however didn't even spare a glance at me.

i chose not to acknowledge that though, maybe he just had a bad day? i was about to say something else when a girl came in and sat down across from us.

"hi! i hope you guys haven't been waiting too long!" she beamed as she played with her hair.

"i just got here, like 10 minutes ago, you're good" i reassured her. the man next to me groans- in what i can only assume to be annoyance- but before i could question him another woman walks into the room.

the woman quietly sits down next to the cheerful looking woman across from me. they chat amongst each other, although miss pink hair was the only one really talking.

i stood up and walked over to the two, seeing as the gruff man next to me provided no entertainment. as soon as i sit down next to them a blonde guy walks in, his hair looked messy and his clothes were wrinkled.

i groan again because i was interrupted once more. i turn away from the guy and huffed quietly in frustration, already not liking him.

"sorry for keeping you guys," he apologised, i wasn't too interested in whatever he was saying though.

as soon as i turn back around a middle aged woman walks up to the stand
"now that everyone is here, let's get started."
