Chapter 11

Chace’s POV

Wow, she had just made me feel 10 times worse. The best part about it was that it was true. (Note the sarcasm.) I had hurt her, that black eye was from me, that broken arm was by extension from me, that bite that went so deep into her neck, that was caused by me.

It was my plan to ignore her & treat her like scum and she was still on the hit list. I was beginning to think this girl was just bad lucky. Having said that Erin would soon be in custody for breaching the treaty. Cleo had done her no wrong, she had bitten her out of sheer anger & that was against the law.

I decided to head back to my room. The scent of Cleo’s blood was driving me crazy. I wanted to taste her just once. Her blood smelt like lavender & chocolate. I wonder if her blood tastes the same.

NO CHACE! My inner voice chimed in. I shook my head head.

She can never be yours, you have hurt her too much.

I have to try, I feel like she belongs to me.

She will never love you, she will never feel the same way. Remember your plan? You have to pull through, she is just a human nothing more than a human that broke the rules, you have been too nice to her, she must pay the price.

You are right, you are always right.

Cleo’s POV

I was scared, I’m not going to lie. The Erin pounced at me I was terrified but I had to be strong. I was always the one that had to be strong. The second I walked away from Chace I felt regret but that isn’t what I had to worry about, I could make up for that later. Right now all I cared about was getting myself fixed. Right now I was broken, mind and body.

I walked to the kitchen where I knew all the maids hung out. I liked the maids, although they knew I was a human they still treated me nicely. They had gotten used to having me around after all the hype died down. They would help me.

The second I walked into the room I was surrounded by concerned vampires who wanted to help me. I didn’t bother explaining to them what have happened because I figured they already knew anyway. They patched me up and I was sent on my way. I was glad to have it over so quickly, I still felt the pain but all I felt like doing was sleeping.

I was sent to my room to rest. That’s all I wanted to do. The second my head hit the pillow I was out and I fell into a not so dreamless sleep.

I was falling, falling into darkness, the wind rushing past my head. I braced myself for the collision with the ground. It was over, I would be squashed flat and there was nothing I could do to stop it. I cried out for help. I wasn’t ready to die, not yet.

Why am I falling for so long, I searched my surrounding, I wasn’t getting any closer to the ground but I was falling further and further away from where I fell. I reached up to try and grab something as I went and I suddenly hit the ground with a thump.

I landed flat on my feet & the impact didn’t even seen to faze my body. I squatted down to a crouch when I heard voice coming from over a thick bush. I hid behind it hoping to pick up on what the conversation was about. I know what you are thinking, curiosity killed the cat, but I as just a dream, what could possibly happen.

There were two men both in black cloaks so I couldn't see their faces. One seemed to be very well built & the other was rather short & pudgy.

“It’s time, we have found her.” The short one said.

“And what do you suppose we do about this?” the other replied.

“That is where you come in.”

“And what would I get out of this?” the built mans gruff voice sent shivers through me.

“The satisfaction of being the one to drain her dry.” He chuckled.

“I like the sound of that. I’m in.” The two men shook hands & I gasped. Where they planning to kill someone?

“Ah, it looks like our guest arrived right on schedule.”

“This is going to be fun.” The big man walked closer to the bush and I clasped my hand around mymouth to keep myself from making any more noise.

“Boo!”

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”

I shot up in bead screaming. A cold sweat moistening my forehead. Just then Chace stormed into my room and immediately shot to my side.

“What happened.” He pulled me into his arms rocking me back and forth.

“Someone is going to die Chace.” I sobbed silently.

“How do you know that? Who would tell you such a thing?” he sounded like he thought i was crazy.

“They told me, the people said they found her. They are going to drain her!”

“Don’t be so stupid, nothing is going to happen to anyone.”

I pushed him from me feeling hurt.

“You don’t believe me.” I looked away from him. But I wasn’t expecting to hear what he said next.

“No, no I don’t.” With that he walked away.

At that moment if felt as if my heart had been torn out. I had to realise that this was how our relationship was going to be. I was nothing more than his human servant and he was nothing more than the jerk that took me from my normal life. It wasn’t the best life but it was MY life. Now everything I did was controlled by the vampire & I hated it. I no longer had anything to live for.

Chace’s POV

Cleo wouldn’t get out of my head. All I could think about was how she looked when she smiled. That smile was a rarity around here. I suppose it was understandable, she didn’t want to be here. I had ruined her chances of living a normal life.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHH!” I heard Cleo scream, oh no what happened? Had Erin come back for her? NO she wouldn’t have dared.

I ran as fast as I could to Cleo’s room. I came in to see her sitting up in her bed looking as if she has just seem a ghost.

“What happened.” She was shaking, I pulled her into my arms & began rocking her back and forth like a child.

“Someone is going to die Chace.” I could tell she was trying to cover up her terror but it was clear in her voice.

“How do you know that? Who would tell you such a thing?” I was concerned for her, what had she found out that made her so scared.

“They told me, the people said they found her. They are going to drain her!”

“Don’t be so stupid, nothing is going to happen to anyone.” I was trying to comfort her but I did come of sounding a little rude.

She pushed me away only glancing at me for a second before she looked away.

“You don’t believe me.”

Of course I believe her I just didn’t know how she could have known such a thing.

Now is your chance Chace, your chance to initiate your plane. Be cold, make her hate you. That is as far as it is supposed to go. You shouldn’t have even come to her. Now is your chance to redeem yourself.

You are right.

Of course I am, now go on. Be cold hearted. She doesn’t care about you so why should you care about her?

“No, no I don’t.” With that I walked away. I could tell that she was hurt but I had to keep to my plan. I didn’t look back at her. It killed knowing that id hurt her but it was the way it was supposed to be.
