Chapter 4. "She's out of my league"

Skylar's pov

I was standing dumbfounded. I don't know what just happened. Julia bought me glasses. It's fucking unbelievable. Am I Dreaming? I pinch myself. "Ouch," I groaned.

Julia left me a few minutes ago. So I have to go home by myself. The mall is far away from my home. While walking home I can't stop smiling. People are looking at me like I am a fool. I'm so happy today. The first time in my life Julia attempted to talk to me and She cares for me.

It's almost dark. I fetch my phone from my jean pocket. I glanced at the time. Shoot, it's ten past seven. I increased my speed. I reached my apartment, I enter my small apartment.

"Nana, I'm home," I yelled. Nana was sitting on a small couch. I walk towards her and hug her.

"Skylar, where were you? I was worried about you. I tried to call you but you didn't pick up my calls." She told me while tightly hugging me.

"Nana, I'm here. Don't worry about me. How are you?" I asked her. I know how she cares about me. I feel so blessed to have her in my life. She's my everything.

"I'm good darling. Come sit with me. Tell me about you. How was your first day at school? " she asked me and pulled me to a seat beside her.

"Good" I answered her shortly. I don't want to tell her about the whole bullying thing.

"Sky, I know you. You are hiding something from me and what happens to your glasses? " she asked me while checking my glasses.

"Nothing Nana, I stumbled and fall on the stairs then I broke my glasses. You know me how clumsy I am?" I told her and laughed while scratching my head. Nana also joined me. We both are laughing. Nana glanced over the paper bag in my hand.

"What is it in that bag?" Nana asked me. Oh... I forgot about this.

"Oh... Nana, Julia gave me this." I told her while blushing.

"Oh... My God. Skylar.Your long-time crush Julia?" Nana teased me. Nana knows that I have a tiny bit of a crush on Julia but she didn't know that Julia is the girl who makes my school life living hell.

"Nana, stop it. It's not like that." I told her and tried my best to control blushing but miserably failed so to hide my tomato face I hugged her and buried my face in her arms.

"Oh... Common Sky. I know you very well don't hide your feelings. It's okay to have a crush at your age and when are you gonna introduced your girl to me?" She asked me excitingly and I gasped for air.

I give Nana a short smile. " It's just a crush, Nana. We are not even friends." I can't tell Nana that my crush is Queen bee of the school and I'm nothing. I'm an outcast. More importantly, she's my bully. I don't want to be talked about this topic so I changed the topic.

"Nana, I'm hungry. Let's have dinner" I told her and pulled her into the kitchen.

Nana prepared Alfredo for dinner. We ate our dinner on the couch because we don't have a dining table. We ate dinner while chit-chatting.

"Nana, I'm thinking to do a part-time job so I can help you with the bills. You don't have to work hard for me. You know I can handle myself." I told her while washing dishes.

"Sky, I know you can handle yourself. The whole summer vacation you have been working. I can't let you work now. I want to provide everything you need. Although I know I failing to fulfill your wishes." Nana told me and look down at the floor.

"Don't think like that. You are my everything. You are my inspiration. You always made me happy. I love you." I told her truthfully and hug her tightly.

"I love you too and I'm proud of you Sky," Nana told me and embraced me.

I'm in my room, lying on my bed. Where should I apply for a job? I think I should apply to a cafe or a bookshop. I don't want to work as a bartender, as I did in summer vacation. I don't hate working as a bartender but girls always try to flirt with me which I'm not comfortable with it. I glanced over the paper bag. I smile thinking about Julia but my smiles faded away when a thought comes to my mind. why the hell she help me today and in the first place, she's the one who broke my glasses then why she bought me a new one.

Did she care for me? Not a chance Skylar. Don't give yourself fake hopes. She is a beautiful, smart, rich girl. She is good at everything. Not only guys from school are head over the heels for but also girls. She's perfect and I'm a loser, freak. Everyone treats me like trash. No one wants to be my friend and even if anyone tried to friend with me Julia makes them suffer.

Then why the hell all of sudden she help me? I damn sure she is planning something evil against me?

I should hate her but I don't know why I can't. She always bullies me, offends me, humiliates me and still, I can't hate her.
I got up from my bed and wear the glasses which Julia bought for me. I look cute in those. I check myself in the mirror. I can't wait to wear this tomorrow, for school.

I enjoyed spending time with Julia. I know it's not gonna happen in the future. She will never want to be my friend. She's always disgusted by me and it hurt like hell but I'm used to it.

I know 'she is out of my league.'
