"Wake up already! School is starting today! Have you packed everything?"

Gasping, Aubree's once heavy eyelids shot open in shock, almost as if someone had mentioned that she got straight A's.

"School? Today?"

"Yes, what happened?"

"No, it's just- I thought school started tomorrow?"

"You thought wrong, kiddo," Her older brother who was previously repeatedly combing his hair in one direction, attempting to make it stay in one place and eventually reigned victorious, walked up to her and ruffled her hair

"I'm not a kiddo,"

"Sure, kiddo,"

Deep down, Aubree felt a pang of joy in her heart. She and her older brother attended the same school, and her younger brother went to a different elementary school. Ever since her brother went into senior year that very year, their conversations were always dry, and never longer than a minute. He'd always been the type to study, so he and Aubree barely had any sibling-like moments. They'd never even fought once! Which may seem like a relief to most, but sometimes Aubree wished she had someone to argue with, someone to comfortably talk to, someone to annoy when she got bored. She never had that. She almost felt like they weren't blood siblings, but strangers who were forced to stay together. They had been extremely close as children, playing with each other and annoying each other endlessly, but that all ended when he got immersed into his education. And the previous few months, it was like Aubree didn't even exist. It became... awkward, between them. And every time she'd see a pair of siblings playfully arguing, her heart would break. Her brother had been trying to heal their relationship by talking to her more and buying her gifts, the occasional movie night too, but she knew it would never be the same, like it was before.

He offered her a sad smile, almost as if he was thinking of the exact same thing that Aubree was.

"Get ready and pack quick, breakfast is downstairs!" He waved and headed outside.

She walked over to her suitcase, putting in the final clothes, items and pictures into it, for her second term of boarding school for that academic year. While she looked forward to seeing all her friends, by which she meant one friend, at her school, she wasn't exactly the wealthiest, being a scholarship student.

And believe it or not, Students and Teachers both preferred those who were wealthy. Which implied, she wasn't preferred. At all.

"I told her to-,"

"What, trust her instincts?" He scoffed. "What a lame line. Couldn't think of anything better? I don't know, I can't drag her back here in her dreams again for a bit,"

"Sorry, she just looked so desperate and I couldn't stand seeing her like that. If she is happier there, there isn't much we can really do,"

"Do you know how furious she will be? She wants her daughter back! Immediately!"

"Sorry..."

"I guess there's only one option left now,"

(Rewritten) And that's a wrap! Don't worry if you were confused at the end, you're supposed to be :D

This was more of a filler chapter, just to fill in some gaps in the plot and make people more confused.

Anyway, If this is getting published, I'd love to hear any future possible theories! As in, where you think the story is going ⇾

Also, are these A/Ns annoying? Like, should I just leave the end as it is? ⇾

Chapter 3 might be out around 2 am today :) AND IT'LL BE LONGER I PROMISE-

(edit - its out rn btw)
