-ATHENA WAS TRAINED TO BE A BRUTAL SOLDIER, THANKS TO THE PRESSURE PLACED UPON HER BY QUEEN NIA. The woman wanted nothing more of her soldiers than brutal and relentless beings, and that was what Athena was born to do. But at one point in her life, she was sent to Polis to be an Ambassador to Azgeda during a meeting between the Clans. Athena didn't want to go, but Queen Nia demanded it of her and dragged her to the meeting with her.
Upon reaching Polis, that was when Athena first met the Heda named Lexa, the new leader of the Grounders. To Athena, Lexa seemed nothing more than a woman of power who wanted what was best for her people. She saw past the facade that Lexa held in front of the other leaders, which made Lexa weak in Athena's eyes.
Lexa has recently lost her first love, Costia, who had died by the hand of Queen Nia. It was because of Athena's connection with the Ice Queen that made Lexa cold towards Athena. But Athena was bent on making Lexa see that she wasn't like the Queen who ruled so harshly. Athena wanted Lexa to see that love wasn't a weakness.
By the end of it all, Lexa's view would stick.
