NIAOMI'S POV

When I woke up I had a major headache. "Uhhh.." I mumbled to myself while sitting up. I looked at my phone and saw my phone was still on from my last night conversation with Kelly about what happened to me. Last night ended horribly. I don't want to think about, but the thought keeps consuming my mind. I just hope my mom will calm down soon. As I began to think of last night the tears began to fall one by one. I thought to myself how I can't sit here all day and cry. I got up and went the bathroom and looked in the mirror. I look like a disaster.

I turned on the shower and jumped in. When I got out I began to mentally prepare myself for the day while getting dressed. I walked upstairs to see my sister making breakfast.

"Good morning sis. " My sister and her husband said in unison.

"How was your night?" She asked placing a plate in front of her husband.

"It was okay." I replied while sitting down next to my baby niece. As I was eating I began think about all the stuff my mom said.

"Niaomi!" My sister yelled.

"What?" I looked up dumbfounded.

"I've been calling your name. I know your thinking about mom. Don't think about it too much. Before you have to waste more summers getting help. Now, leave before your late for school." She said shooing me away. She's right, I don't want waste another summer. I kissed my niece, said my goodbyes, and walked outside towards my car. I drove up to Kelly's house to pick her up, but when I got there I got more than that.

"Drew Morris, leave my house alone before the Holy Spirit posses me to whoop you like I'm your mama!" Kelly's mom yelled at Kelly's ex-boyfriend from the inside of her house.

"No offense Mrs. Williams, but this has nothing to do with you!" Drew yelled from the other side of the screen door. In the corner of my eye I saw Kelly running from the side of her house towards my car.

"Kelly! I just wanna talk to you!" Drew yelled while running after Kelly. Kelly jumped in the car just in time, and my foot hit the gas pedal like never before.

"What's going on?" I asked as we reached a stop light.

"Drew keeps trying to make up with because that chicken head he was with broke up with him. Other than that nothing." Kelly said like it was nothing. "But enough about that. What happened to you and ya family last night? You alright?"

"Not really, I'm just trying not to think about it."

"That's smart, just know I'm always here for you. I would have been by your place to comfort you, but Drew and his gang were barricading my house."

"Wow, you all right?"

"Yeah, he wouldn't hurt me. He cares about me too much. Plus you know my brothers don't play." She said. We soon reached school and was ready to take on the day. Today everybody was acting weirder than usual. They were all staring at me, but I don't know why. As Kelly and I walked out of school my phone rang and Reina's beautiful face popped up.

"Hello?" I said as smile grew on my face.

"Hey ma, how was your day?" She asked. It feels good to know someone cares.

"It was great, yours?"

"It was 'ight. It could have been better if you were by my side." The smile on my face began to grow bigger. "I just called to know if you wanted hang out with me?" She asked nervously.

"Just me and you?"

"Of course."

"So, is this a date?"
