Injured
Part 4
@jkficzY/N POV
Once back at school, you are able to make it to your last class.
You try and focus but this whole situation is taking a toll on your 멘탈 (mental).
You don't have the chance to talk to Hallie but you do see Hailee, Julia, and Jungkook at practice as you go to practice as usual and tell the coach that you need to sit out this practice and are not sure that you can run the final race this weekend. (It is a Thursday and the race is on Saturday. Two days!)
You sit with Max and the other managers. It feels weird not to be with the team but at the same time, you and Max are good friends so it was fun to hang out with him. Max and you are pretty close but there was once a chaotic time in your relationship. He had a severe crush on you and everybody at school could see it. He thought that he was being very discrete but uh no. You both got teased mercilessly for it. You had to put a hold on your friendship and distance yourself from him so that you don't accidentally lead him on. However, he got over you and you both went back to being friends.
"Why aren't you running?"
"Why can't you run?"Not many people know about your condition yet so people keep coming over to ask you questions as you have never sat out of practice for no reason before. You are the fastest girl on the team and you really want to run in the race to help your team.
After practice, you and your mom decide that you're going to leave for Seoul at night because of the early morning appointment. Your dad helps you reserve a hotel room somewhat near the train station and hospital.
Going to the train station, you ride a late-night train and are exhausted. Both emotionally and physically. You wonder what the doctor is going to tell you tomorrow. By the time you arrive at the hotel, you are ready for bed.
The next morning, your mom wakes you up. You gather your things (you didn't take much) and head out to find a taxi to go to the hospital.
Your mom doesn't really speak Korean (she only speaks a little bit but you like to make fun of her for her pronunciation) so she asks you to talk to the taxi driver*. She shows you the text that the school nurse gave her.
*Note: I am also not fluent in Korean but I speak more Korean than anyone else in my family. My friends have been helping me with vocabulary and pronunciation and so my family sometimes asks me to translate or say things for them.
~와 서을대학교병원 (Wa Seoul dae Haggyo Byeongwon: Wa means wow)~
서을대학교병원 (Seoul University Hospital). It is one of the best hospitals in Korea and probably the most well-known one.
You didn't know that your mom was taking you here. Still, you tell the taxi driver and he nods and starts to drive off.
You marvel at the sight of the huge building looming in front of you some minutes later.
Walking in, you and your mom sign into the COVID-19 tracking sheet and go up to the international office. You will get a translator there because the doctor doesn't speak great English so it will be helpful and more clear*.
*Note: Also, I can only speak conversational Korean but I cannot understand medical terms.
Your translator (let's call her Linda) is very nice and takes you to go see the doctor immediately. She is very friendly and shows us around the hospital as you go.
"Please sit and wait here, the doctor will call us when he is ready," she tells you, taking a ticket from the ticket machine* and sitting down herself.
*Note: In Korea, there are systems where you take a ticket from the machine and then when they are ready, there is a screen that flashes your number signaling that they are ready for you and then you can go in.
Very soon, your number flashes on the screen.
"Alright, let's go," Linda says, standing up and pointing towards a door.
