Injured
Part 9

Y/N POV

The next day, you show up to school on crutches.

"OMG, Y/N!" Hallie comes up to you. "How are you doing? Are you okay? Does it hurt? What happened?"

"Yea," you force a smile. "I'm fine."

"Do you need help?"

"I'm fine. Thanks," you reply.

You try not to make a big deal of it but honestly its kind of embarrassing to have crutches. You have to take the elevator when everybody else takes the stairs. Also, you can't even get your own lunch, you need Julia, Karina, Hallie, or Hailee or someone to get it for you while you trail after them, telling them what you want.

For a while, your armpits were bruised and in a lot of pain.

Afterwards, you got better at crutches and your body got used to using them.

~Time Skip~

It's been about a week since you visited the hospital. It's now a Friday, your first day of finals. You are in the middle of class, finishing up a project when your mom comes in.

She looks at you and walks to the teacher.

"Are they taking a test?" She asks.

"No, they are just finishing a project that is due in an hour. Why? Do you need to take someone?"

"Yea, can I take Y/N for a bit?" He nods.

She walks over to your desk and motions for you to follow her. You grab your crutches and follow her out the door.

Now in the hallway, you see your dad leaning against one of the lockers.

~Uh oh, whats going on~

"What's happening?" You ask.

"We have some news," your mom answers.

"What..what is it? Good or bad?"

"Both. Good and bad. We have a surgery date."

"Oh when?" You reach your moms office as it is on the same floor as your classroom.

"December 24th. Christmas Eve," your mom replies.

"Oh," is all you say.

"They moved it up a whole week so that's the good news. The bad news is obviously that its Christmas Eve..," your mom explains.

"Yea," you say, processing.

"What are you thinking?" Your mom asks after a moment of silence.

"I don't know, honestly. I think its good that it was moved up but also it sucks because that means I'll have to spend Christmas Eve on an operating table and Christmas in the hospital."

"I understand, honey. But since it was moved up, you can recover faster," you mom points out the bright side.

You give her a little smile. You feel like crying. Its way too much to think about. The surgery is only about 2 weeks away then.

After talking with your parents a little more, you go back to class.

Since it's only work time, you open messages on your computer and text Karina. She sits only a few seats behind you in that class so you know she should respond.

Sorry don't wanna relive finals!

Finals are finally over and now there's about 1 week left until the surgery.

You try to forget about the surgery but as the days go by, you are slowing getting more and more anxious.

Many people have told you that they are praying for you which is a comfort but you still are nervous.

You are trying not to dread Christmas this year, but it's hard.
