Third Person POV:

It was days after the battle between Percy and the victor, Reed. Reed was constantly basking in the glory from his previous battle with Percy Jackson. Around camp, Reed was known as the Slayer of the Sea, since he had beaten Poseidon's favorite son.

Whereas Percy was treated like a complete loser, forced to remember a silly battle in which he had lost. Everyone seemed to forget Percy's countless victories in the second Titan War and the Giant War, but focused on one match, where his opponent cheated.

(A week after the battle)

Where are they? Percy thought as he was waiting for his friends to arrive to the training yard. Even his friends had been hanging out with him less and less, convinced that maybe Reed was better than him.

Percy grew excited as his friends came into view, as he was ready to hang out with them. He saw eight figures coming into view. Eight? He only invited the seven, his best friends. As they came closer he realized his friends had come with the very person he had been avoiding all week long, Reed Mackenzie. How could they? They knew he despised Reed and wanted nothing to do with an arrogant cheat. Even worse, Annabeth was walking right next to him, having a conversation.

"Hey guys," Percy spoke as he waved to his group of friends. "Annabeth," he called "can we talk for a second, alone?" He emphasized. "Of course," said Annabeth as she walked over to Percy.

"How could you?" Percy questioned.

"What are you talking about?"

"Don't play dumb, I'm talking about Reed. You know that I hate him. Annabeth, you of all people should be on my side about this, you're supposed to care."

"You're overreacting seaweed brain, Reed is a nice guy. We're all friends with him now, maybe you should try to be too." Annabeth said while looking over at Reed, who had a big grin on his face.

"gods Annabeth, why am I the only one who can see that he's a threat. There is no way he had never fought before when he went against me in the arena. I feel like his purpose is to tear us apart. Can't you see how he flirts with you all the time."

"Percy, try not being so judgmental for once in your life. He's not a threat at all, and he doesn't flirt with me, he's just nice unlike you. Recently, you've only been talking to me if you have to complain or rant about something. Come back to me when you've finished being a drama queen about your ego. " Annabeth retorted and stomped away.

When Annabeth reached her friends she told them what Percy and her had been talking about. Once she finished, Percy received dirty looks from all of his friends, including Reed who was happy to be the center of attention once more without Percy.

(Later that day)

Percy had been forced to spend the rest of his day alone, since none of his friends would talk to him. They wanted him to apologize to Reed and become friends with him. There was no way he was doing either option. As a result of his loneliness, Percy resorted to walking on the beach, hoping the water's presence would calm him.

Suddenly, an arrow whizzed past him, just narrowly missing his leg. He bent down and picked up the arrow, curious as to where it came from. Reed came running towards him drenched in sweat with an arrow quiver on his back. "Sorry Jackson, I was training some of the younger campers and one of them missed the target by a lot." Reed said while smiling with laughter, amused that it almost hit Percy. "Just watch it Reed, next time I may not be so forgiving." Spat Percy, his anger slowly starting to show.

"You know I'm very glad I beat you in the arena, you desperately needed a reality check. You can't always be the hero Percy, no matter how bad you want to be. Just because your fatal flaw is being too loyal, doesn't mean your friends will be loyal in return. I've been here for a week and your friends like me more than you. Oh and about Annabeth, let's just say you'll be single soon."

At this point Percy was fuming with rage. He was seconds away from killing Reed, he didn't want to hear the possible truth in the words that were coming from Reed's mouth.

"You know it's the truth Jackson. You're a sorry excuse for a hero of Olympus. I'm surprised the seven even want to be seen with you."

"STOP IT!" Percy yelled at the top of his lungs, willing the water from the beach to rise and face Reed. Reed could sense Percy's power brewing in the water and ran, desperately wanting to get away from the surging waves.

As soon as Reed disappeared, Percy began to calm down. His body shaking from the aftermath of his outburst. He left the beach and slowly walked back to his cabin, not wanting any company for the remainder of the day.

(After Dinner)

Percy heard someone knocking on the cabin door, reluctantly he got up and opened it. In the door way stood Annabeth with a neutral expression.

"Have you come to apologize?" Percy grumbled as Annabeth walked through the door. " Very funny Percy, but no I'm not here to apologize. We need to talk." Said Annabeth as she sat down on his bed. " What are you talking about," Percy questioned thinking he may not like her answer.

The room was silent for a few seconds and then she delivered a blow. A blow unlike any other, one that would shatter Percy to the core of his heart and soul.

Annabeth sighed and muttered " We need to break up."

*Sorry for the cliffhanger, but I thought it would be the best thing to do for this story. Trust me, I know you are probably mad about this and I love Percabeth too, but it has to be done for now.
