Chapter 4: Opening Day

(1 year later)

Snowdrift's POV:

I HATE being away from Hamaya. Ever since that Owen Grady person came around I haven't been able to get near her without anyone pulling her away which only makes me even angrier. He is always trying to keep her away from me. Not only that but her "mother" is making her train with that stupid T-Rex! She doesn't have any spare time anymore! I pace the walls of my paddock, they have finished making it larger and the walls higher. I wish Hamaya would come back to spend time with me. Suddenly I heard the familiar sound of Hamaya's voice as she called my name. Took her long enough to come back! I ran over to where I heard her on top of the wall and lifted my nose up to her. She got on my head before Grady could come to pull her away again. I let her down on the ground so she could walk around in my paddock with me. Hamaya places one of her hands on me making me purr. She isn't just my handler, she is my friend. I wish she didn't have to train with Rexy and Owen wasn't so worried about me hurting her. Every trick she taught Rexy, she tried with me first. I'm glad I have someone that trusts me.

Hamaya's POV:

I smiled softly at Snowdrift. "Have they fed you yet Snowy?" I asked knowing they were too scared of him and he likes when I call him by his nickname. I sighed softly when he growled and shook his head. "I guess I have to feed you then," I said as he purred and nuzzled me. I jumped onto the top of his head as he gave me a boost and I went to handle getting his food. I brought back a cow for him to chase and catch to eat, he has to know how to hunt. I released the cow in the paddock as he started using his instincts to hunt the cow. I watched from the wall. I smiled when he caught it and ate it. He roared in delight knowing that I was the only one that let him do this. I whistled and he came over and helped me down into the paddock. It's so much easier for me to avoid my "mother" when I come here. I sighed as I walked around the paddock with Snowdrift deep in thought. After a minute or two I was startled out of thought by a tail wrapping tightly around my waist and pulling me into the side of the tail's owner. "It's hard to hide anything from you," I said. Snowdrift nudges me into his side making me laugh. Snowdrift is such a sweet boy, I don't see why everyone thinks he's dangerous. Sure, he's bigger than Rexy but he's all that much sweeter. I laugh as Snowdrift starts acting like an overgrown puppy dog. I hug him as he nuzzles me. I smile softly just as we hear the voice of Claire wanting me to get out of the paddock and somewhere "safe". I roll my eyes at Claire's antics. "I'll be fine Claire, Snowdrift won't hurt me." After awhile Claire left, and sure as the stars in the sky Owen comes and calls for me to get out of the paddock. I sigh as Snowdrift makes a small whining sound. I motion for Snowdrift to help me out of the paddock and I can tell he was reluctant but did so anyway.

Snowdrift's POV:

I growled when Owen started walking towards Hamaya when she stepped onto the wall. It's not that I'm hostile, it's just that I'm protective of Hamaya. She's the only one that has ever shown me any form of kindness and trust. I hate that everyone keeps taking her away from me.

Owen's POV:

I wasn't shocked in the least when that beast growled at me, but what did shock me was that after Hamaya took a step towards me it shed a tear, like it was sad that Hamaya was coming with me and leaving it.
