Black led the discussion with, "Where was everyone when the meeting was called? That way we know who to keep an eye on—"
"Why do you all seem so eager to kill someone?" Lime interrupted, wringing her hands anxiously. "Just tossing one of us into space? That's your solution?"
"Hey, calm down—you're not listening to us," Yellow reassured. "We aren't going to eject anyone. Not now, and hopefully not ever. Unless we have visual proof, or enough evidence against someone, then we will not be voting."
"How much evidence will ever be enough?" she countered coldly. "Unless I see it with my own eyes, I won't let anyone be thrown off this ship. And if you all override me, then I damn well don't want to be there to see it."
"Lime, I understand your concerns, but for now we're just trying to figure things out for the future," Green said.
"'The future?' It sounds like we're just waiting for someone to die," Brown interjected. "Shouldn't we be talking about a way to prevent that?"
"We could still have a voting system—" Green began.
He was met by immediate backlash from Lime and Purple, as expected. I also joined in.
"If you'd let me finish," he snapped in annoyance, "I was going to say we could vote, but do something other than eject who is accused. It's better than nothing."
"I guess you're right," Yellow said reluctantly.
"We already went over this. It would be hard to make that work. I still don't think we should," Purple warned.
"But what if we compile enough evidence? Then we'd need to take some protective measures," I pointed out.
"Personally, I think Cyan is being sort of suspicious," Pink said.
"What?" I shrieked, turning to face her. "Why do you keep turning the attention to me?"
"You're getting sorta defensive, and haven't really been contributing to the conversation, as if you didn't want to be pushing it a certain way," she explained. "I'm not saying that means anything. Just pointing it out."
Lime immediately jumped to my defense. "If you don't think it means anything, then why are you accusing him?"
"I'm not accusing him," Pink countered in exasperation.
"How did Yellow just happen to stumble across the body?" Green added, nodding toward Yellow.
"What the hell? I work in the Medbay!" Yellow snapped back.
"Someone would have had to find the body eventually. Would you have accused them too? Or are you just targeting the trainees?" Red said bitterly.
"When did this turn into accusing? Seriously, we just need to talk this out first," Black tried to reason, but no one listened to her.
"What about Purple? It doesn't sound all too believable to me that she stayed in Storage for so long," Green suggested. "I know Brown said she could confirm it, but I think we can all agree that those two—"
"You're just changing your vote out of nowhere?" Brown snapped. "Since when is she suspicious to any of you?"
"I'm not voting for her. I just wanted to share my thoughts on everyone's behavior—you're right, I shouldn't have said that like I was accusing her," Green assured.
"Green, you need to chill out a little," Pink muttered.
"Was this a mistake? We all need to calm down," Black addressed everyone.
