Dreams Mean Something

Denki pov))

I wake up cold, even though I'm surrounded by a large amount of warmth. My eyes flutter open and I'm in a field of tall grass, and I recognize it almost immediately. It's the field. The field by the church where the hurt kids go. I sit up in a bolt. Lost. How did I get here? I can't remember anything. I look up the hill and see the old building, harsh against the gray sky. It's sunrise. It's cold, but I feel warm.

I look around and decide it's best to just get to where I know where I feel safe. I go to step up the hill but it feels like something is weighing my feet down. Holding them there so I can't move. But I just have to get there. I need to and I don't know why.

I get there and something's wrong. There's something vile here. It's not supposed to be here. There's something wrong. It's not right. Panic bursts into my stomach and I double over, now feeling nauseous. This isn't supposed to happen. It's supposed to feel safe here. I climb back to my feet and rush to the attic. Where everything's supposed to be. I get there and see a person standing in the middle of it.

"Hello?" They don't respond. "Hey! Who are you?!" I feel tears spring into my eyes. "Something's wrong here. Are you okay?" The stay silent, only lifting their head to look out of the far window. "Hey! Fucking answer me! I'm worried!" They turn and I freeze, tears falling and anxiety shoots through my body.

"Hello Denki. Been a while." Jade. That fuckin bitch. She steps forward and I take a step back.

"Get the fuck away from me! Stay the fuck back!" She feigns innocence.

"You were just worried about me? What changed?" She throws something and it pierces my leg. I look down and see a throwing knife. No, no, no, no. This can't be happening! Not again! I fall the the ground from pain and she comes over and grab the knife ans twists it. I scream in pain and try to shove her away.

"Stop! I don't want you! Go away!" I'm sobbing at this point and I can't think clearly. I feel a tug on my arm and my head snaps over. In a flash I'm met with Hitoshi cupping my face and saying my name.

"Hey! Denki, Babe come on wake up." I gasp and launch into a hug.

"S-she came back! Hitoshi! She ca-me back for m-me." He hugs my back and pets my head.

"Shhhh, it was just a dream. Calm down Denki. I've got you." I sob into his chest and try to calm down. But I still feel panic in my body. It's spreading still. Am I having a panic attack? No, no, no. I don't want that right now. Hitoshi can't see me like this. I shove him away and get off the bed. I slap my hands over my face and pace back and forth. "Hey Denki, can I help?" He tries to touch me and I flinch away.

"D-Don't touch me. Don't, you're gonna hurt me." He nods softly.

"Do you want to chew on anything or can I help. Or get anything?" I shake my head and sit down on the floor.

"I-ve never had one this bad. I don't know what to do. I'm sorry." He sits down about 4 feet away.

"You're okay. I can just sit here and talk to help you through it." I nod. "Or I can fuck off and let you deal with it anyway you know how."

"No, don't leave. Just, I guess don't touch me." He nods. "I don't know why I had that dream." He quirks a brow. Oh right. He doesn't know. "I woke up in the field by the church. The safe house. I felt off and when I tried to walk it felt like I had weights on my ankles." I takes a breath to try and stop the sobs. "I got there and it all felt wrong. It was off. It was supposed to feel safe but it felt hurtful, cold. I went up to the attic and she was there and-" sobs each my body.

"Hey, you don't need to tell me. Just take a deep breath, can you do that for me? A deep long breath. That's all I need." I do what he says and I remember that knife she threw. I quickly look down and rip my sweatpants lower. I see nothing there and relax. Okay. It was just a dream. Nothing happened. It's fine Denki. Get your goddamn head out of the gutter.
