Harry POV
It's been about two weeks since our first Monster defending class with Professor Jackson. At first we failed, badly. We were equipped for fighting with wands. The most amount of exercise we had to do was flicking our wrists and occasionally waving our hands. Maybe we had to duck or move a couple times, but never something as intense as this.
Training with Professor Jackson is like training with the devil himself. We had to get our fitness up in case we had to run away quickly, we had to build the muscles in our arms so that we could hold the sword properly. I think my arms are going to fall off from the amount of archery training I've had.
Why did we even need to learn archery? Professor Jackson is terrible at it! He basically just said "Oh yeah.. this is incase we have any naturals in the room.." Honestly, why is he our teacher again? We should have someone more qualified.
I sigh into my plate of bacon and toast. I look at it dejectedly, willing it to disappear. I am too nervous to eat. Now I know what you're thinking, 'Harry why are you nervous? You've been doing this for ages! You're like the best on the team!'. To which I reply; 'Well this is the first match of the season and there's every possibility that I will fall on my face and make a fool of myself!'.
Ginny walks through the great hall at that moment, I turn my head and catch her eyes. She looks as radiant as ever. I love her so much.
She sits down beside me and grabs my hand under the table.
"Hey Harry, nervous?"
I nod shakily and place my head on her shoulder. I can feel the rise and fall of her shoulders as she chuckles at my predicament.
"Harry... You have nothing to be afraid of. It's just quidditch."
I look at her sadly.
"Look Ginny I appreciate what you're trying to do for me but it's not going to work. I think I've lost my touch. I mean.. at tryouts.. I..."
"Sucked?" She offered.
I glare at her, "You're not helping!"
She sighs quietly and takes my other hand in hers. "Look Harry, you will be great. You have done this many times before. When you get out there and start to do your thing you'll be amazing. Besides, well if it makes you feel any better, nobody will be looking at you. You are the seeker. You fly around at the back and blend in to everything."
She finishes with a cheeky grin and kisses my cheek. I roll my eyes at her.
"You suck at cheering people up."
We share amused smiles.
"I know." She replies smugly. I just shake my head slightly and lean down to give her a proper kiss.
A cough from behind me startles us both and we jump a foot away from eachother. I turn only to see Ron with an unimpressed look on his face, and Hermione with a knowing smile and glint in her eyes.
Ginny breaks through the awkward tension that fills the atmosphere.
"Well anyway Harry, eat your breakfast. You'll need all the strength you can get. We are going against Slytherin today and we have to win."
"Yes Captain," I reply mockingly. I kept my captain roll from a couple of years ago. I am the oldest and have the most experience so they thought that I was the best for the job. Plus, well, I'm Harry Potter. They practically begged at my feet for me to agree to the job.
Ginny just smiles at me again. God I love her smile. She's just so beautiful.
I take a sip of my pumpkin juice and attempt to eat some bacon as I wait for the minutes to slowly tick by. Ron and Hermione have already taken their seats across from us. Ron doesn't look nervous at all, as he shovels food in his mouth like there's no tomorrow.
