Although some points in the video may not apply to all of you, there are many points which we all need to acquire:
Having the ability to analyze experiences.
Being able to look from different angles.
Being emphatic.
Being open-minded.
Seeing beyond the box.
These are the characteristics that I believe most of us need to acquire. Why? These characteristics will help us reach greater heights in our life. In our school, job, health, and life.
Look back at some experiences which made you sad, angry, and happy. Think about what happened, why you felt that way, and how to avoid or have that emotion again.
Looking at things from different angles may be difficult at first, but I can show you that every angle is different. Even with a 1-degree difference. Go to your friend or family member and ask if you could have a completely awkward moment with them. Take a look at them from different angles and see views of them you have never acknowledged or seen before. Or do it with yourself. Ask a friend to take a video of you or photos from several angles.
Now take a problem you're currently facing, write down as many solutions you can think of. Ask others for their perspectives on what solution they can think of. Brainstorm. See that there is more than one solution, and find the best solution possible for you.
Being empathetic is one of the largest humane qualities in the world. It's probably the most important quality we must possess. When you see someone homeless, how do you feel? You feel sympathy for them right? Not pity. The difference between sympathy and pity is that sympathy is when you want to do something for them. You must stick to that feeling and do something! That feeling of helping and putting a smile on someone's face is amazing! Forget drugs and alcohol! This feeling is what keeps us alive, human, and happy. We feel the happiest when we help others. We feel happy when we know ourselves. We feel happy when we accept who we are and what we faced. We are happy when we push our limits and challenge ourselves.
How to be empathetic? Put yourself in that person's shoes, this will make it easier to comment and judge on what that particular person is facing. How do you think actors and actresses do it? What is their secret to acting? It's empathy!
"Empathy is at the heart of the actor's heart."-Meryl Streep
Being open-minded as I have explained before helps us be more accepting of new ideas and more ready to accept change. It also allows us to see beyond the box which is another quality you see deep people possess. Being deep also means you are a great listener and someone who your friends and family could lean towards when they need help. You can only be deep if you analyze and reflect on your experiences, be more open-minded, think from different perspectives, and most important of all, being more empathetic.
