Summary: slughorn assigns Severus a person to tutor. The last thing he expects is to fall for her...

Warnings: a little angst? Mainly fluff

Tutoring. The idea of tutoring sent him through the wall. Severus was a very private person, not really interacting with anyone willingly, so when slughorn assigned him someone in his year to tutor the thought made him want to die. But he had no choice.

So there he was sitting in the library with the reasonable books waiting for whoever it was he was meant to be tutoring. How clever of slughorn to not even give him a name.

His jet black hair fell in his face as always, and he decided to read a book while he waited. Although he was early in the first place it still bothered him that he was left waiting around.

Humming interrupted his train of thought as he looked up to see a smiley girl who had a cassette Walkman in hand. She clumsily sat down in-front of him before taking out her headphones and rummaging through her bag.

He recognised her from his class. She was rather ditsy and seemed to keep to herself. She had also had the most casualties with potions, it seems that nearly every potion she attempted ended up as a complete dud or blew up in her face, which now made sense as to why he was enlisted to help.

"Hello..." she said cheerfully. This confused him greatly. He assumed the person he was tutoring would be just as unhappy about it as him, but she seemed more then happy to spend an hour or so with the most unpopular and miserable person at Hogwarts.

Severus didn't respond and merely glared at her. He was met with a smile though which made him even more confused.
"So... you're my potions tutor correct?"

"Obviously..." he drawled looking through his hair as she continued to smile away. He looked at her Hufflepuff robes and rolled his eyes. Of course she was a Hufflepuff. (Dw I love hufflepuffs so much)

"Brilliant.. I'm y/n by the way... I'm in your potions class..."

"Yes I know..." he said rather snappily. She frowned slightly at his cold tone which gave him a tinge of guilt in his stomach, he never felt guilty about being mean, why did it matter when it was directed to her?

Severus brought out a book and began to go over some of the more simple potions. His voice showed complete disinterest but he got caught up when he'd occasionally look up to see her listening to him like he was the most interesting thing in the world.

He wasn't used to people actually listening to him. When he told the marauders to leave him alone they didn't listen. He knew she was only listening because he had knowledge which she needed, but it was nice to pretend a pretty girl actually wanted to listen to what he had to say.

"Right it's been an hour... we'll meet here Wednesdays and Fridays at 5 just like today..." Severus said before grabbing his things.

"Thank you Severus..." she smiled patting his shoulder before she put her headphones back on and skipped off.

Severus found himself in the library that following Wednesday early like last time. He watched the smiley girl skip back into the library humming quietly to presumably muggle music.

"Hello Severus nice day today isn't..." she said taking out her headphones and cosying into the chair.

He merely nodded and continued to teach her the theory of potions. While he taught her he got a weird feeling in his stomach. He wasn't quite sure what it was because he hadn't felt it for a couple years but every time he'd look at her he'd feel weak, like she was the sun and he was an ice cube melting under her gaze.
