Hello everyone,

I will be posting more frequently after the 20th of Dec as my exams would be over by then. I hope you are all enjoying this story. Please feel free to correct me if I have made any mistakes.

This chapter has not been proofread because I am lazy and have no time for that :)

Xiao Zhan sat facing his uncle, Jiang Fengmian. He did not know what to make of his current situation. All these years, and he had never met any of his father's family.

He guessed his uncle seemed nice enough. He was a middle-aged man with thick eyebrows and bore minimal resemblance to his own father. Jiang Fengmian had welcomed them in and brought out tea for them. He attempted to make small talk to make things easier and less awkward, but Xiao Zhan was restless. Wang Yibo could sense this and prompted Jiang Fengmian to get to the point of their visit.

The smile on Jiang Fengmian's face gradually disappeared, and he let out a deep sigh. He stood up and walked towards the window as he started recalling the events that took place 20 years ago.

It turns out, during the rain of Wang Yibo's father, Wang Yizhou, Wei Changze was a member of the Moonlight pack along with the rest of his family. He was even appointed as beta, second-in-command to the alpha when he came of age. He was highly respected among the pack and strived to protect and help the pack's weaker members.

Wei Changze's relationship with the alpha was unlike master and servant and more like brothers who would hide their deep affection with teases. Alpha Wang Yizhou often invited Wei Changze over to his house, Wang Manor, for meals with his family, introducing him as the vodka aunt. Wang Li viewed Wei Changze as a brother and also formed a good relationship with him.

Their oldest son, Liu Haikun, would constantly ask his father to allow his 'vodka aunt' to teach how to fight. His father would howl in laughter and give-in to his son's request, allowing for the attachment that was already there to grow even stronger. Wang Yizhou never minded; in fact, he encouraged it as it might help his dear friend take his mind off the fact that he hasn't found a mate yet.

Usually, the moon goddess was not so cruel that she would leave werewolves mateless, but there were the odd cases when a werewolf was being punished or had died young that would cause the mate bond to break. Wei Changze never believed that and held on to the hope that his mate would eventually find him. He was already in his late 20's*, so the chances were highly unlikely so; Wang Yizhou wanted to prepare for the worst, even if his friend didn't.

*Usually werewolves find their mate around 16, around the time of puberty

When the alpha's second son was born, the alpha had made Wei Changze the godfather and allowed him to pick the baby's wolf name. When Wang Li heard this, she did not object but rather teased both of them while caressing baby Wang Yibo fondly.

"Maybe the reason Changze hasn't found a mate is that it's supposed to be you. Are you sure I'm your mate?" she said with fake anger.

"Aw, don't be mad. I had children with you, didn't I?" he smiled sweetly at his newborn child.

"Next time you want a child, you should ask your beloved beta," Wang Li snorted as Wei Changze laughed out loud. He then proceeded to pull Liu Haikun out of the door, to God knows where clearly embracing his role as the 'vodka aunt.'

However, not long after baby Wang Yibo's one-month celebration had things began to change. Two rogue female wolves, who were being chased by humans, ran to the Moonlight pack in search of help. As soon as they had entered the borders, Wei Changze immediately knew his mate was one of them.

The two female wolves were sisters, known as Cangse Sanren and Madam Yu. Alpha Wang Yizhou accepted them as temporary members of the pack. This was partially because his best friend's mate was one of the two women and partially because he despised human hunters* more than anything else in the world.

*human hunters that are being referred to here are humans who specifically hunt wolves.

Things settled down for a couple of months, and Wei Changze got married to Cangse Sanren. The dinners at Wang Manor included one more. Soon the Alpha and Lunar received news that Cangse Sanren was pregnant and were overjoyed. The alpha congratulated the couple and threw a feast in honor of his best friend and sworn brother.

A week after the exciting announcement, Alpha Wen Rulan from the Red Moon pack paid a visit to discuss things with Alpha Wang Yizhou. Upon entering the Moonlight territory, he was hit with his own mate's scent and claimed Madam Yu as his mate.

The had been a very flimsy peace between the two neighboring packs. The Alpha and Beta were somewhat worried but thought they could use this new union to stabilize the declared peace between both packs. Wen Rulan was known to have been power-hungry and could get easily angered.

The Moonlight pack allowed Wen Rulan to take Madam Yu to his pack in return for a promised peace. Cangse Sanren was a bit worried for her sister's safety, but Wei Changze assured her that mates would never do anything to harm the other unless they were really unstable.

Several weeks later, Cangse Sanren convinced her husband to move to the Red Moon pack and abandon the Moonlight pack. They fled into the night, and since then, they never returned, and now they never would.

The room grew quiet. Xiao Zhan let the information wash over him, and he processed it.

"Why did my father suddenly decide to run off to the Red Moon pack? That doesn't make any sense. If he truly was as close as you say he was with the alpha, then what suddenly changed his mind?"

Jiang Fengmian appeared deep in thought, but before he could answer, Wang Yibo stood up abruptly.

Wang Yibo: "We should go. It is getting late."

The sun had set an hour ago, and Xiao Zhan realized how exhausted he actually was. Wang Yibo was right; they should return. He needed time to think about the information he had just learned. If he were told any other stories about the parents he thought he knew, he would probably end up crying.

Jiang Fengmian bowed to his Alpha and Xiao Zhan. After saying goodbye and making plans for Xiao Zhan to meet his cousins later that week, they left and headed to Wang Manor. Xiao Zhan was quiet the entire way back.

Xiao Zhan followed Wang Yibo up to the room that he had been staying in the past few days. When they reached the door, he expected Wang Yibo to leave without saying a word like he usually does; unexpectedly, the older boy opened the door of the room and sat on the couch that lay at the foot of the bed.

Xiao Zhan was stunned and could not think for a moment. He hesitantly closed the door and felt that the room had gotten unbearably hot. He turned to look at his mate only to find his piercing gaze already on him. The confusion he felt before evaporated.

It was taking everything in Xiao Zhan to not give in to his desires and pounce right onto the man opposite him. Wang Yibo stared at him, which caused Xiao Zhan's features to be tinted with a light blush. Did he want him to submit, or was this a staring contest he was not aware of?

"Wha- What are you doing? Do you... uh, need... something??"

"..."

"?"

Wang Yibo smiled at Xiao Zhan for the first time since they met.

"Well, this is my room, or did you expect me to sleep in my brother's room again, mate?"

"..."

"You don't need to move, of course, we will be sharing the room and the bed."
