5. Perfect Posture

An hour later, Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo walked side-by-side around the pack. The weather was perfect, neither too hot nor too cold. However, Xiao Zhan's palms were sweaty, and he walked while looking at his feet. Wang Yibo walked next to him, posture straight.

Xiao Zhan turned his head slightly to sneak a glance at his mate. His eyes were met with indifferent, blue ones. Xiao Zhan immediately retracted his gaze, the tips of his ears turning pink. Xiao Zhan helplessly cleared his throat. It's not his fault that his mate was so damn attractive.

"His posture is so perfect and straight," Xiao Zhan mindlessly thought.

Unbeknownst to him, that was, in fact, the only thing straight about his mate.

Wang Yibo took Xiao Zhan to the dorms and showed him around the school for the youngsters. They also spent quite some time at the daycare as all the kids immediately took a liking to their Zhan ge-ge.

Wang Yibo didn't mind. He spent a fair amount of time at the daycare himself when he got a bit of time. He believed that an alpha of a pack should always form a bond with all members of the pack, especially the young. This was his way of building trust and loyalty within the pack.

Next, Wang Yibo decided to show him around the communal cafeteria as it was already lunchtime.

Wang Yibo: "In our pack, you can either cook for yourself at home or come to the communal cafeteria. Most families cook at home, while the rest of the pack eat here. We decided to implement the cafeteria when we realized that we had a high number of orphans and single members, who had lost family due to the constant feuding between the different pack."

Xiao Zhan looked around. He was amazed that a pack this big was still so caring towards those who had lost their families. The smile that was forming on his face slowly disappeared.

"I am like them. I have lost all my family, " thought Xiao Zhan.

Wang Yibo: "Go order your food. I'll find us a table."

Xiao Zhan nodded. Despite his overwhelming sadness, his mood immediately lifted when he saw the food. He ordered for both himself and Wang Yibo, then went to find the table that Wang Yibo had kept.

He spotted the table and noticed that there was a girl seated next to Wang Yibo. They were both engaged in conversation and seemed very comfortable with each other. Xiao Zhan tried not to think about it too much.

He approached the table and set the food down. He sat facing Wang Yibo and turned to smile at the unknown girl. She was not Chinese but rather had a darker skin tone. She had dark brown hair and a squarish face. She looked about 18, the same age as Xiao Zhan. She wore an oversized dark blue sweater and baggy jeans. She looked very beautiful. She returned the smile.

Xiao Zhan greeted her and the girl raised a hand to wave at him in response while muttering a greeting.

"She hardly speaks Chinese. Her home is India," Wang Yibo explained.

He kept his neutral, indifferent expression but when he looked at the girl, his eyes softened slightly.

"My name is Aria," the girl said, in broken Chinese.

"I am Xiao Zhan," said Xiao Zhan, with a smile.

Wang Yibo turned and spoke to her in a foreign language. Xiao Zhan guessed it was English. Aria listened intently to Wang Yibo and gazed at Xiao Zhan. She smiled and shook her head at Wang Yibo. She then said something, while laughing. This seemed to cause Wang Yibo to look as if he had been drinking vinegar.

Xiao Zhan waited for Wang Yibo to explain but he never did, so he sat there playing with his food.

Aria smiled sympathetically at him and bid a farewell, leaving the two mates to eat together. There was awkward silence after her departure.

Xiao Zhan: "Why is she so far away from her home?"

"This is her home."

Xiao Zhan sighed. He felt that there was a brick wall in between them. After eating in silence, Wang Yibo said, "When we're done, I'll take you to see your uncle and cousins."

Xiao Zhan's chopsticks stopped mid air and he looked at Wang Yibo. He wasn't aware he had cousins. How had they ended up in MoonLight pack?

"Who?"

"Your father's brother and his children."

Xiao Zhan swallowed. His father had told him his brother had died years ago. What was going on?
