It was in the middle of the night when I found myself sitting in a snow biome. I was staring at the stars and the dark blue night sky. The man I was supposed to hunt had left ages ago...

I heard the crickets chirping and the quiet flow of the river I was sitting next to. I didn't even care about my target escaping and just enjoyed the cold winter breeze. I closed my eyes and felt the wind brush my hair, my arms and my legs.

I was enjoying the sounds of the little rabbits hopping behind me as well as the dim lighting of the moon. I felt the grass underneath me and took in a deep breath. The cold snow crumbled in between my fingers and another breeze flew by me.

Suddenly I was able to hear faint footsteps behind me. In panic I shot open my eyes, quickly grabbing my sword and running to the next tree I could find. I needed something to cover me. Right now.
I tried to calm down my quickened breathing. Was that him?

I readjusted my armor, seeing a black figure in the distance. I squinted and squeezed my eyes together but couldn't quite make out if it was him or some kind of hostile mob.
My heart rate quickened by just thinking about the possibility of it being him...
I hid my body behind the tree, taking another deep breath. I put on my colorblind glasses and my body abruptly stiffened.

I shifted my legs and felt myself getting nervous. I couldn't look back now. If it really was him, he would see me. Then he'd hunt me down and slaughter me. How ironic.
Was I really scared of my target hunting me down? Was this the reason I was getting nervous?

Unexpectedly the upper half of another human being popped out from the top of the tree. I let out a long -and kinda girly- scream of horror and tried to step back. I backed against the tree as the figure in front of me hopped out of the leaves in one swift motion.

A tea kettle like wheeze could be heard from the person who was now standing right in front of me. I just stood there in shock like some sort of idiot, not realizing I was about to fall since my legs couldn't hold me anymore. I just stared at the ground as the person in the green hoodie turned around dramatically, revealing a white mask with a smiley on top.

My legs finally gave in and I fell. I closed my eyes out of reflex and I fell and I fell some more. But I never hit the ground.
As I opened my eyes again I was staring right into magnificent green eyes. I saw a slightly tanned face with tiny freckles. A few dirty blonde streaks were lurking out from underneath his hoodie. In addition I was able to see a beautiful, genuine smile that made my heart beat faster.
I felt my cheeks heat up but I couldn't help but stare. I was lost in his eyes, trapped in his gaze, unable to look away.

He pulled me up and slowly let go of me.
"Why'd you come back?", I asked, curious as to why he didn't just leave me back here and finish his mission.
"Oh I noticed you had stopped here and used the time to gather some iron", he played it off, "also scaring you was a little bonus"

"Wait, were you just casually stalking me?", I shot another question at him. He just deviously smirked at me even though I had known the answer nonetheless.
After a few moments of silence I just smiled at him. I saw him grin back at me. He grabbed my arm and pulled me down onto the ground.

We sat against the tree together and stared up into the night sky. "Let's just... take a little break from hunting each other down, okay?", he proposed, staring deeply into my eyes.
I just gave him a quick nod before diverting my gaze from his
I took in a deep breath and felt my stomach tighten.

Dream had closed his eyes. His head was slightly tilted upwards. I felt myself staring at him in awe. It was amazing how he always managed to slip away and weasel his way out of the most dangerous situations. He was such a brilliant, bright and all over smart mind.

I felt his warm hand creeping its way up to my freezing cold cube of ice. His hand on mine was more welcome than ever. "Look George", he said," can you see them, too?"
I looked up into the sky to see a few strings of all possible shades from pink to green and all the way over to yellow and blue mark their territory is the skies.

My jaw dropped and I couldn't help but focus on the delicate swings of each line.
"At a loss for words?", Dream teased me.
"I mean, how wouldn't I be? They are amazing", I was practically fangirling over the northern lights.

I felt Dream gazing at me and as I looked back at him I saw nothing but this genuine smile.
Then his facial expression turned a bit sad and he stood up from the ground. I immediately missed the source of warmth that had just been removed from my hand.
"Well, Georgie, it's time we part ways now", he smiled down at me.

I got up as well and hugged him as tightly as possible. "Thank you Dream. Thank you for showing me this"
He just giggled at me and hugged back. I felt like I could've been standing here like this forever but at some point Dream broke our hug and stepped back a few times.

"You're welcome", he smiled at me. Then his smile turned into an evil smirk. I felt pain piercing through my arm. He had punched me.

But the last thing I saw was Dream running away from me, followed by bright and colorful lights in the sky.
I could only hear his laughter as he was sprinting away. I felt a smile creep onto my lips.
Guess this must've been the magic of the northern lights...
