My arms were burning as I continued to bench press, breathing heavily out through my mouth. By the time I placed the bar back down a long line of sweat was across my torso and forehead. I quickly grabbed a rag and toweled myself off while taking a swig of water. The gym was full of people who looked miserable and sweaty, pretty much how I felt now. After running a hand through my sweaty hair I swiftly made my way out of the gym.
After making it home I wanted nothing more than to jump into bed but knew I smelled like shit. I had to force myself into a piping hot shower, heavily sighing when the hot water hit my aching muscles. As the water was running down my skin I rested a hand against the shower wall. My head rested against my arm as I tightly shut my eyes.
Being forced to go to New York was one thing, but being forced to go to an ice skating event sounded like torture. On multiple levels, for multiple reasons. But Harper wouldn't stop talking about wanting to see everyone and had pulled me into the large building. She happily pulled me up the stands before plopping down next to me.
She had started yakking about god knows what, everything had tuned out when the announcer said it. The name I had known so well and had seen on TV multiple times. The name I used to torture and bully because I was scared. Willow Ray. He still looked the same, still long blonde hair and same blue eyes. To me he'd always be the little boy I pushed down that day on the playground and started that stupid ass nickname.
With a deep sigh I turned the shower off, grabbing a random towel off the ground before running it over my body. I had never actually seen him perform until New York and man, he could really skate. His facial expressions and body movements were so on, it was no wonder he won. And then I had to be a dick instead of being somewhat nice. I guess I was just destined to be an asshole.
After drying myself off I threw the towel onto the ground before finding a random pair of boxers. I then walked into the tiny kitchen and grabbed a bowl of cereal, sitting alone in the dark kitchen. My eyes traveled to the small digital clock sitting on top of the oven, since the clock on the oven was broken. It was only eight thirty but felt a whole lot later.
Once a spoonful of sugary cereal hit my tongue, I looked around the small and broken kitchen with a sigh. This isn't the life I should be living, mainly because right now I was just existing. Since I didn't apply myself in high school I didn't make it into any colleges. All of my friends had went off to school and then there was me. I had no plans or ambitions so I started working random jobs. Working on houses or cars, anything that I could do with my hands.
My fingers absentmindedly ran along the scar that now inhabited my skin before I sighed and rinsed out my bowl. When I turned the water off I looked out the small window, my fingers gripping the sink. When I saw the headlights of my roommate pulling up, I slowly made my way back into my room before falling onto the bed.
Danny was a pretty good roommate and honestly one of my only friends. We had become good friends through Harper and after awhile we moved in together. He was also dating Harper's sister, but they fucked like bunnies. The last thing I wanted to hear after a long day was my roommate having sex in the room across the hall.
Harper was pretty persistent in the whole asking me out, until I finally gave in and agreed. Her long blonde hair had attracted me to her; I had always been a sucker for blonde hair. She also always wanted to fuck like bunnies but I honestly didn't have her sex drive. Sex was okay every now and then, but I was turned off pretty easily.
My eyes opened when the front door opened and shut, making me realize I must've dozed off already. I could hear Danny walk into his room, another voice with him. It had to have been Hope, Harper's sister. It seemed whenever Danny wasn't in class he was either screwing his girlfriend or sleeping.
