Halloween

As an eventful Halloween rolls in, the main characters of this mysterious novel are getting ready and with the speechless looks, they give they want you to know it's their world and we're lucky to live in it.

* phone rings *

"God helps me," Brielle says as she picks up the phone. She and her roommate greet each other as Brielle retrieves her curling iron. "I still don't know why you had to go upstate for a costume," Aliah says. "You gon waste my minutes for a stupid ass question like that," Brielle replies. "It's not stupid and, you don't have minutes miss," "It's stu-" "like I said it's not," Aliah says as she cuts Brielle off. "Well... it's not just any costume it's a custom bodysuit," "A bodysuit? " Aliah says. "yes a bodysuit, on top of that this isn't just any Halloween, we're seventeen, I mean this is our peak, this is our senior year and soon this chapter will be a distant memory especially when we can't live it the same" Brielle says. "I mean I guess but are we still gonna wear the matching black cropped puffer jacket with the black thigh-high boots?" " Of course I gotta cover up somehow, fishnets can only do so much," Brielle says. "Ight well hurry up cause I'm trynna go", "Damn don't rush me and the only reason you going is to see Kaedin" Aliah gasps, "The only reason why you taking so long is cause you don't wanna see Jevaughn" They both look at each other with a shocking but truthful look. "Anyways child so-" Brielle said. "Backtalk?.....it's quiet ain't no back talk and where's this party anyways," Aliah says. "It's in Ogdensburg, New Jersey," Brielle says slowly with a look of disgust. "Don't look at me like that". They both laugh, "I'll see you later" Brielle says "Ok". Soon after, Brielle hops in her car ready and steady and heads back to her beloved New York City to retrieve her friends for this eventful night.

As Brielle drives through the Lower East Side, her home, she starts to drive through all her memories instead. From the moment she had first moved, to walks going to school in the 2nd and 3rd grade, to the first day of 4th at a new school, to the walks back home in 8th and the hangouts in 9th, to the power and responsibility handed in 10th and the car she earned in 11th, and now here she was in 12th... a new person ready for a new chapter. As she turns out of memory lane, she finally reached her destination. All the boys were just waiting on the curb, they all had Halloween masks except for, of course, Jevaughn. Brielle seeing him put her in trans but she knew what she wanted and she already knew how to get it. "YEOOOOOOO", "YURRRRRRRRR", "YEOOOOOO WUS GOOD BRIELLE" Raymend, Jayden, and Kaedin said. "YEOOOO nun much bro, I'm just glad ya here," Brielle said looking into the back seats. "It's gonna be a good night," Kaedin said. As Jevaughn opened the door to sit in the front seat, he and Brielle just exchanged looks. "yes. it. is." Brielle added before stepping on the gas and speeding away. After the awkwardest, silent, dreadful, 20-minute car ride they had finally arrived at Aliah's building. But oddly enough while Brielle was texting Aliah, she couldn't help but feel eyes staring, so she looked up and saw Jevaughn staring at her with a slight look of disappointment, disgust almost. At this point Brielle just had to ask, "Why are you looking at me like that? Do you have a problem with me or something" more softly than it seems. "There's no problem" "Then why do you have this look like I did something" and the sudden gaze they gave each other was cold enough to freeze oceans, floor to the surface. *knock knock* "HEY BEECHHHHHH" Brielle turns and rolls down her window and smiles "HEYYYYYYY". Brielle turns to Jevaughn, "Alright go to the back" "Why" Jevaughn said. "Because Aliah is here now and that's her seat so like I said get up and go to the back" "Wtf I was here first" " I don't care she's better and more important than you so move" Jevaughn feels the door open on his side and mumbles "more important hm" He then gets up and greets Aliah but she only gave him a friendly smile. " Woo hoo so are you ready," Brielle says as Aliah sits in the car. " Of course I am," she says as she connects her phone to the aux. " I like your jumpsuit by the way it's very conservative," Brielle says. " I like your bodysuit with the fishnets it makes you look...open" "gee thanks... Hey Siri directions to 'P.T.B' " Aliah looks at Brielle " You named the party's location?" "Yes...What I wanted it to be a surprise". Aliah starts playing WAP by Cardi B and Meghan Thee Stallion. Brielle turns to the wheel and says "Party Time Baby".
