My heart hums a melody
One that’s sad and low
A song of heartbreak and pain
I have nothing to show
For the love I’ve put into the world
All I get in return is hate
My mistakes hinder me greatly
I wish I could start over with a clean slate
Correct all my short-comings
Right all my wrongs
But that can never happen
So I just continue to long
For something that’s real
A love that doesn’t die
A love that doesn’t betray
A love that doesn’t lie
But a love that’s compassionate
Not a love that strings you along
My heart is in pieces
But it still manages to sing its song
A song sung solo
Because I’m all alone
From childhood to manhood
Sadly that’s all I’ve ever known
But still I smile to elude the question
So what’s with the frown?
The thoughts in my head keep me up at night
Sometimes silence can be the loudest sound
A sign of spiritual unrest
Please God I’m in need of Restoration
Not only me
But my entire generation
As I sit here pondering
Hoping a resolution will come soon
I hold out hope that one day
My heart will change its tune
(Authors note) It's amazing how season's of life change. You never know what God has instore for you next!! These last two poems were written about a girl I previously pursued. I thought I could never find someone as special as her. Then out of no were God sent me a sweet girl named Nicole who has profoundly changed my life. I'm now in a happy relationship. So to anyone out there who finds themselves in a position were you cant let that person go. You think you can't live without them. Trust me when I say God has someone very special for you waiting. Be patient and never lose confidence in yourself... Blessings
