Nothing could stay perfect for so long.
And George knew that now as he laid in bed, his tears wetting the pillow beneath him and his sobs echoing through his room. His tears never stopped flowing and his mind kept drifting back to what happened.
George watched Clay get stripped of all his weapons with his hands behind his back before getting dragged away.
"Let him go! I command you to let him go!" He ran after them, gripping the knight's arm and pulling it away from him.
"George! Behave yourself," The kings loud stern voice made him flinch and he turned back to look at him, one of his hands tightly grasping his 'friend's' much larger hand. "Alex, tell him what you saw."
"I saw him steal two golden nuggets." Alex said, Schlatt's straight lips curling upwards into a nasty grin.
Clay shot a piercing look at Alex and if looks could kill, he'd be in a casket, six feet below the dirt.
"I did no such thing.""Guards. Check him."
Two guards made their way to the duo, one pulling George away, who confidently believed that it was a lie. Clay would never steal from him. They both knew that.
The other guard began searching Clay's pockets.
Seconds passed, and as each second passed George held his breath, watching the scene unfold. The last pocket was the front one on his hoodie, they checked it and his heart dropped.
There they were. The two golden nuggets.
"No!" George cried out, pushing through the guards and engulfing Clay in a tight hug.
Something wasn't right, there's no way Clay could've stolen anything. It just wasn't like him.
There's no way.
It had to be some sick joke.
It had to be a nightmare.
But as much as George tried to wake up, he couldn't.
"Guards." His father ordered.
The same two guards pulled him away, and he kicked. He kicked and screamed, his scream ringing through everyone's ears and a flock of nearby birds flew away. The wind speed quickened, the tree branches around them cracked while they flowed through the wind, as if somehow it was portraying George's exact emotions.
"George!" Clay yelled out as they began taking him away.
"Stop resisting, okay? I'll come find you. I'll get out and I promise I'll come find you! Just wait for me!"He was framed. He knew that but now he couldn't resist anymore, if he did- if he tried to escape his sentence would maximize.
Clay was escorted to a black carriage. The seats were cold and made of steal and once he sat down he heard the outside door click.
The sound of footsteps crunching on the gravel made him turn around. He looked through the window and he was met with a heartbreaking sight.
