Chapter 2 - Friends?

Ky's POV

I grab a carton out of the fridge and make my way towards the cashier. After paying for my lunch, I walk over to a table and sit down, on my own. I take my phone out of my bag and plug my earphones in; the sound of All Time Low fills my ears. I open my lunch and start to eat it, watching the clock all lunchtime, counting down the minutes until our next lesson. At the end of lunch, I make my way to my last lesson; PE. Slutty girls running round a netball court in skorts that are too short and low cut tops, whilst the boys play football shirtless. My idea of Hell. I try to get changed, then decide it's too embarrassing, so I take my kit and get changed in the toilets. I make my way into the gym and sit down in the corner and stare at the word on the board; 'Fitness.' This lesson is going to kill me.

I change as quickly as possible, grab my books and rush out of the changing room, too busy looking at the floor to notice the boy standing ahead of me that I pretty much run flat into. "God, sorry." I say sheepishly, clutching my books tighter and walking past him.

"Hey!" he calls after me. Oh no, it was the boy from Maths! I keep running, ignoring his shouts. I get out of the school and see my mum waiting outside for me. "How was your first day, honey?" she asks, I push past her and get in the car. She soon joins me and we drive home in silence. I clamber out of the car and run into the house, ignoring the questions from my dad and older brother, Andy. Locking myself in my room, I put in my earphones and block out the world.

Jai's POV

"Jai come on, man!" shouts my brother from the car,

"Beau, you're so impatient." I grunt back. I walk toward the car and am greeted with Beau and Allie having a little make out session on the front seat. "PDA guys, PDA!" I shout. Allie is Beau's girlfriend of 2 years. I have to say, I'm pretty jealous. I clamber into the back and stare at the two of them doing something I won't explain, on the front seat. "Beau is this my lift home, or free porn." I say, kicking his seat. He grunts and I sigh, "Guys seriously, I have homework." I hear Beau and Allie moan simultaneously. "Great, looks like it's free porn."

"Mum, I'm home!" I yell as I walk through the door, throwing my bag onto the couch.

"Hello sweetie, good day at school?" she asks from the kitchen, I smile at the thought of the girl; Kylar. "Good thanks, we have a new girl in my maths class." My mum grins at me,

"That's nice sweetie, did you show her around?" I smile,

"I sure did!" I say enthusiastically, I take a can of coke out of the fridge and walk upstairs to my bedroom. Slumping down on my bed, I take out my phone; one new message from Luke, 'Skip's having a party next Saturday, definitely going :)' I grin and text back; 'Sure, might ask that new girl in our Maths class :/ ' he doesn't reply so I put my phone back in my pocket and start on my homework.

Ky's POV

I'm the first one to enter my maths classroom so I take my seat and get out my books. After a while, I hear the door open and I turn round to see who it is; it's that boy who took me to English yesterday! He flashes me a goofy smile and I blush and turn away. "Hey Ky!" he says, grinning, he sits down next to me. My cheeks redden even more even and I only manage to stutter a few words; "You don't sit there." I whisper. He smirks and shuffles his chair closer to mine, resulting in me pushing mine further away. "I'm Jai." He says, holding out his hand for me to shake. I ignore him and blush even brighter, I've never been good at talking to people. He sighs, "Look, my friends Skip, Daniel, is having a party on Saturday. Why don't you come along? You can meet all the people in our year!" he grins. A party? Definitely not. Parties are meant for socialising, something I'm not very good at. I shake my head and he frowns; "Why not?" he asks, "It'll be fun!" I finally find my voice and manage to squeak out a reply, "I don't have any friends." I mumble,

"What about me?" he asks, I shake my head again. Jai goes to say something else, but in walks the rest of our class and the teacher. "Jai, I'm assuming you have moved next to Kylar so you can help her?" questions the teacher. Jai nods and she smiles, "How lovely of you!" Jai winks at me then opens up his book.

The lesson dragged, lunch dragged, the day dragged. I go to my locker and put all my books back in, then make my way out of the front entrance and stand outside, waiting for my mum. "Ky!" I hear a voice from behind me shout, not Jai again! I decide to ignore him and take out my phone and headphones, quickly putting them in my ears. All of a sudden, one of them is yanked out and I feel someone standing next to me; Jai. He puts the headphone in and his face automatically lights up. "All Time Low: Dear Maria." He says, I smile a little and nod. He rolls up one of his sleeves to reveal an ATL wristband secured around his wrist. I do the same and he smiles at me, "Big fan?" he asks, I nod. "Do you actually speak?" he questions, laughing. I nod again and he sighs. Looking down at my phone, I see one new text from my mum: 'Works running late, you'll have to get the bus x' I sigh, great. "Um, Jai?" I ask quietly,

"SHE SPEAKS!" he shrieks, a few people turn to stare and he soon blushes bright red.

"Where can I catch the bus from?"

"Well, Beau normally picks me up but he said he can't so I'm going to get the bus as well. I'll take you to the bus stop." He smiles at me and I smile back. He starts to walk off so I put my phone back in my pocket and walk faster to catch up with him.

"Jai, I don't have any money!" I exclaim, rummaging through my bag.

"I'll pay." He says as if it's the most obvious thing in the world,

"No I'll just-" I go to say, but he cuts me off,

"Shh. Just get on the bus!" he pushes me forward and I clamber onto the bus. Jai pays for the both of us and we walk towards the back. I sit down and Jai sits next to me. I start to get my phone out, but he places his hand on top of mine to stop me. He gets his out and hands me one of the headphones, his other hand still resting on mine. I pull my hand out from under his and put the headphone in my ear, the familiar sound of All Time Low fills my head. I grin and Jai laughs, I'm beginning to like this guy.
