The weather proved to be rather chilly that morning Rin thought as her moped slowly pulled towards a stop at her destination. A camping site with a connivence store near by, the official meeting spot for Rin and her girlfriend, Nadeshiko's date.
As the final hums of the moped when for a stop Rin swung off her seat noticing that Nadeshiko came before her, long before her as how it looks like as she has somehow fell asleep. A miracle that baffled Rin to this day seeing as it's chilly this time of the year.
They have been dating for quite a while, Rin thought to herself. It was around late autumn that same year when she confessed to Nadeshiko and since then they agreed to two rules for the near future. Firstly, they are to keep this relationship a secret as none of them would like others bugging them about it. And secondly, since it's winter they would date on a weekly basis by camping. Something that both of them giggled to this thought.
Nadeshiko felt a light shake and a sudden burst of chills. At that moment she jumped from her seat at the realization at how cold she is, making Rin laugh. Nadeshiko gave a pout then greeted her. "Hi Rin" she gave in an energetic shout pulling Rin to a tight hug.
Rin flinched at this then followed by gesturing the hug back. "Hi Nadeshiko", she whispered.
The two went inside the reservation building where the clerk went to greet them. "Camping for two?" The man inquired. The two nodded giving him the money for a 24 hour stay at their camping ground. The man took this money and nodded. "Any twigs or pine cones are free to be taken as fire wood, no littering and happy camping!" The two then nodded once more with Nadeshiko excitedly tugging Rin by the hand towards the exit.
As they carried their belongings they stared at their camping site with awe at the picturesque view. As it turns out their were more than one camping location sites near the lake side of Mount Fuji and as they were looking through they discovered a not very known ground in which they wanted to try out.
The location gave Mount Fuji as a background floating like an island beyond the lake, covering behind them different versions of pines, cherries and all sorts of shrubbery. The lake itself was crystal clear giving a near if not perfect reflection of the light ocean blue sky with but the lightest bits of clouds providing a slight cover for the bright sun.
They began setting up camp for the night. First putting their large tent up. Putting it a few meters from the water they worked in tandem as they fixed the tent masterfully. After all, this isn't their first time doing this together.
After this they started on the next step, the firewood gathering. As said by the man in the reservation building, all the firewood here is easily free and as such they can take as much as they want. Nadeshiko assigned herself towards the pine cones whilst Rin got the branches. The two worked in silence something Rin thought was a great thing about Nadeshiko. Rin was an introvert and as such never really liked big groups with the exception as the outdoor club in her school of three people (including Nadeshiko) and even that made her a bit tired after. Due to this she always loved the alone time and peace that camping provided. Nadeshiko however was the exception. For some reason even if Nadeshiko, the extrovert that she is is there she doesn't seem to tire of her and in fact enjoys her presence while camping far more than when camping alone.
With the collecting done they returned to camp Nadeshiko skipping away (with pine cones falling out) with Rin in tow taking her time walking back. As Rin did this Nadeshiko began setting up their supper. "What'd ya want Rin?" Nadeshiko asked. "Curry rice please" Rin replied.
Rin hauled the finished logs towards their light kindle of a campfire and sat on her foldout chair. Opening the book to the booked marked chapter she began reading.
It was around late afternoon when Rin felt a light chill. Feeling this she got her heat shaker and put toward her stomach feeling a rush if heat to her body.
She the gave a light flinch. A pink pair of arms wrapped around her. Looking up to the source she saw that it was Nadeshiko shivering as she had forgotten her shaker giving a fake whale along with a pouty face. Rin giggled at this the stood up and brought out a second foldable chair and patted Nadeshiko to sit down on it. Nadeshiko obliged and did so.
After this Rin sat as well. Unwrapping her large shawl she sprawled it between them giving them a shared amount of warmth. And top this of Rin brought out another shaker (knowing that Nadeshiko was going to forget her's) and gave it to Nadeshiko. Nadeshiko gave a large child-like smile to this making Rin blush.
Their dinner was, you could say something. After letting the food cool for a bit they dug in. From an observer's point of view one could argue that she was "tooting her own horn", screaming in joy as each ate her food. Rin watched this with envious eyes, she really makes this food look good. As Nadeshiko ate she looked up from her meal seeing Rin watch her, "watch cha looking at?" Nadeshiko said with her mouth full. Rin immediately blushed then looked down, she got caught. The rest of the dinner continued in silence.
It was around ten at night when they set themselves for bed. Bringing out their sized sleeping bag Nadeshiko couldn't help but let out a goofy grin. She's going to sleep with Rin tonight.
Originally they told their parents that the reason they got this bed was to save space in their bags which the parents (of both sides) ended up raising an eyebrow but still allowed this to happen. Little did they know about the real reason why they asked to do this.
As the two laid in bed for the night Nadeshiko quickly wrapped her arms around Rin for a tight cuddle followed by a quick kiss on the cheek. Rin flinched almost immediately not expecting the turn of events but still enjoying it nonetheless. She pulled a light grin beneath her lips and whispered. "Good night".
