Louis's POV
"You guys want a fish?"
"Yes, a fish."
"Why a fish? Why not a dog?"
"Because fishies are cute." Harry says stubbornly, "Also we aren't responsible enough to take care of a dog."
I watched from the kitchen table as Harry and Gigi battled it out about getting a pet. Since Gigi practically lived here too it was only fair that she got a vote. Zayn and Liam were all for it but Gigi wasn't convinced yet.
"And what happens when you shitheads forget to feed it?"
"Then you can feed them." Harry puts emphasis on the word, "Don't call it an it."
"It's a fish." Gigi huffs, "But I guess you guys can get one. I just don't want to be the one who has to console Harry when it dies."
"Yes!" Harry cheers, "Do you want to come and help us pick him out?"
"How do you know it's going to be a him?" She asks, "I think we get a girl since I'm living in a house full of males, I want an ally."
"What do you think we're going to do?" Harry asks, "And how would a fish help you."
"It's the emotional support that counts," Gigi informs him, grabbing her coat.
"You guys are weird." I finally say.
"You can tell us we are weird when you stop eating your cereal with orange juice." Gigi quips, "Until then, hold your sugary tongue."
"I like his sugary tongue," Harry says kissing me while Gigi gags,
"Come on guys, I have two essays I need to write."
The three of us finally make it out the door and take the subway to the pet shop downtown. It's quite crowded today and I look up to see there is the grand opening of a new subway shop just next door.
"Niall!" Harry calls as we spot his blonde friend leaving the restaurant, one long sandwich grasped in his hand.
"Oh hi Harry, Louis, Gee. Are you guys getting an 'all you can eat' sub too?"
"No, and ew." Gigi says and then nods towards the pet shop next door, "We are getting a fish."
"Cool! Can I come?"
"You want to waste your afternoon fish-hunting with these boys?" Gigi asks just as Harry says,
"Yes! Help us find one that looks like Nemo."
"They are at odds with one another today," I explained to Niall as Gigi and Harry glared at each other.
"I've seen worse." Niall nods gravely, "But I'm still coming. Maybe I'll get a fish too."
We enter the shop and a strong smell of pet food wafts our way making all of us scrunch our noses up at the untasteful smell.
"Hi welcome to Happy Feet Pet Shop, how may I help you?" The lady at the counter asks, unfazed by our turned-up noses.
"We are looking for a fish...preferably one that looks like Nemo," Harry tells her and I just stand back and watch fondly.
"That would be a clownfish," The lady says, "And sadly I don't think we carry any in this shop,"
I watch as Harry's face falls and the lady notices as well, "If it's any consolation, clownfish are usually at least $60."
Harry thinks about that, "Yeah I think we could find a different option."
