The week passed in a blur and soon enough it was Thursday, the day of the dance. I had gotten my stitches out earlier that week with Chat so they’d be gone before winter break. Winter break started that day and we’d have 2 weeks off. After the last class of the day, I had to stay behind to help decorate.

“Ugh, what’s taking them so long!” The council leader paced in a panic. Cat was in the corner with Bella fiddling with their hair as they talked about something.

“Marinette, you and Bella are in charge of where everything goes so go get Bella cause we’re running behind and as soon as they get back, we need to start setting up.” I nodded and made my way over.

“Hey, so, we’re in charge of decoration so we need to be prepared when the decorations get here.” She nodded standing.

“Sorry we’re late!” a group called from the stairs. Everyone was heaving huge, heavy boxes. The rest of us rushed over to aid them.

“Set them in the corner and now Bella and Marinette, direct us.”

Bella pulled out the layout we sketched the other day.

“Um so, this is the plan.” She showed the paper.

“Great, you four get the tables and set them up. You 3 go get the table decorations and as soon as they get the tables out and set up, start decorating. You tall people, start covering the walls like the picture.” the head of council shouted out rolls pointing at people.

“Uh, what do you want us to do?” I raised my hand.

“Just hold up the image and maybe go around making sure that everything is perfect and to the design.”

I turned to Bella. “I can hold the reference.” She nodded and handed it to me before walking around. I couldn’t see colour and I had a lot on my mind now so it seemed like the best plan. I’ll tell Chat this weekend, it’s just how will I tell him that's the problem.

“Hey girl, you okay?” I saw Alya walking up to check the sheet, breaking me from my thoughts.

“Ye-yeah, sorry, I’m just nervous for tonight.”

“It’ll be fun, don’t worry, after this, we’ll change and then have a nice relaxing evening enjoying all of our hard work.”

“You do realize that after, we’ll have to tidy up and that’s not relaxing.” I laughed.

“Yeah, but still, I’m sure it’ll be amazing!” she shrugged heading back to her work. I sat in my memory swirl for a moment longer until I heard:

“Alright everyone! Good work, now go get ready for the dance and have a great night!” My shoulders tensed in panic as Alya ran to me.

“The girls will be meeting us at your bakery, we should hurry!” she grabbed my arm tugging me along.

“Marinette! Alya!” I saw a small group of girls standing in front of the bakery waving at us.

I led us all up to my room and pulled out a rack of dresses with their names pinned on them. They we’re all in awe as they stepped forward finding their dresses, slipping them on there and then.

We all got changed and giggled while doing each other's makeup.

“So~, Adrien’s taking Marinette to the dance!” Alya grinned slyly as the others turned to me surprised at my collectedness.

“Yeah?” I glance around flushing at the attention.

“Really? After all this time of chasing after him, fluttering at his name, now that he’s talking you to the dance as his date, you're suddenly okay?” Alex raised an eyebrow taking a second from focusing on her eyeliner.
