"I don't see why we need to bring Abigail along for our celebration." Brian grumbled, clearly annoyed that James wanted her along.
"Look, I told you already that I haven't seen her in a while, and I really want to spend some time with her again."
"Why don't all three of us go to a church then? That way you two can get married for our celebration day, since obviously after meeting up at Burger King for ten minutes, and meeting up for mini date a library, you've become soul mates."
"I don't see what the big deal is."
"I didn't kill a man to be third wheeling with you and Abigail."
"You won't be a third wheel. I promise you that if it looks like your starting to become a third wheel, I'll take Abigail home early and it'll just be us for the rest of the day."
Brian didn't look too happy about this, but he accepted it anyways. They stopped in front of a modest, middle class two story home. It had bleach white walls and a light gray roof. The lawn was in perfect condition, the grass green and lush, the apple tree the was on the far left side of the house had perfectly trimmed branches and fully grown red apples. Dante pulled out a piece of paper she had given to him during their date at the library. It said,
Abigail, 33 Johnson road.
All the I's in her name were dotted with hearts. James looked at the address on the paper, and then to the one on the house's mailbox.
"Well, this looks like the place."
"Really? Goth girl lives here? it looks too... happy to be the home of a girl who dresses like a depressed clown."
"Come on man, I know you don't like her, but you could be a little nicer."
"Fine, I'll try to be nicer.
"Good."
Dante walked up the driveway toward the front door, noticing that there wasn't a car parked in the driveway. Her parents probably weren't home. They walked up to the front door, knocked on the light brown, wooden door, and waited. Nothing happened for a full two minutes. James knocked again, this time harder, feeling a bit worried. He could see lights on inside, obviously someone was home. No one answered. After a minute he knocked one more time. A second later the door opened. Abigail's face lit up when she saw it was James.
"Sorry didn't answer sooner, I was listening to music and didn't hear you. What's up?"
"Well, my friend and I are going to hang out today, and I was wondering if you wanted to come."
"Sure, I'd love to! Just let me get changed."
She went inside and come back out a moment later wearing a dark gray hoodie and tight black jeans. James smiled at her.
"You look great. Now, the mall we're going to is about half a mile walk."
"That's fine, we can talk on the way there." Abigail seemed to finally notice the sulking Brian for the first time. "Oh, I never introduced myself to you. I'm Abigail."
Brian put on his best fake smile and shook with Abigail.
"I'm Brian, nice to meet you."
"Alright, now that you two know each other, let's head out."
They began the half mile walk to the mall.
They had an amazing time. They went from food court to food court, eating everything in sight. Then, when they couldn't eat anymore, they played mini golf at a nearby mini golf court. Finally, to end the day they went down to The Splatter, a paintball arena, and played three straight hours of paintball. They walked back to Abigail's house, cracking jokes and laughing. James walked Abigail to her door. brian stayed in the front yard, giving them a little privacy.
