It took at least a week for the little girl to start trusting me. She didn't know any words either so I figured I would teach her my language. Teaching her seemed pretty easy, she caught on quickly.
"My mouth hurts."
She said making me a bit worried as I got closer.
"Can I see inside your mouth?" She was hesitant but allowed it.
Her teeth seemed relatively normal, aside from her two fangs. I have red in many stories that she could extract them, making them look more human then animal.
But still.
"You seem fine. Nothing out of the ordinary."
"But my mouth hurts and I'm hungry."
When she said that it hit me. The reason why her fangs are out. She's thirsty.
Sighing heavily I walk into the other room. Grabbing one of the many daggers lying around I slit my hand and allow some blood to be put in a cup.
It wasn't a lot, but this much should be enough.
Walking back into the room after bandaging my hand I could see her light green eyes suddenly turn red. And when she looked at her reflection she began to panic.
"NO! NO! NO NO! Make it stop!" Tears started to escape her eyes as she shook her head in dismay.
"Please! Make it stop! I- I dont want this! Because of this my daddy threw me away!"
So that's how it was. I'm sure the girls mother loved her and wanted her to stay with her but her father wouldn't allow it.
Getting down on one knee I cup her cheek gaining her attention. Brushing away her tears I spoke.
"It's ok. Everything will be ok because I will never throw you away. You are not a monster, your a human being like me. Tell yourself that. Feel your heart beat. When you feel yourself starting to loose it Tsk deep three breaths and tell yourself that everything will be ok."
She did as I said and sure enough her eyes turned back to it's original color and when she saw her reflection once again she relaxed.
"Here. This is a special drink that will help you stay in control. I will give you some everyday from here on out. Ok?"
She nodded her head as she shakily grabbed the cup. Almost immediately after taking the drink her wounds on her body begin to heal, making me smile.
"Better?"
She nodded as I stretched. How about we take a walk?
I dressed her up warmly. But as soon as I started to open the door Freia came in.
"I thought I told you to stay inside. It's not good for the baby if your-"
She grabbed my wrist tightly while slowly removing the bandage. When she saw my cut her eyes narrowed at Revna making Revena quiver behind me in fear.
"I did this to myself. She needed it. You can't deny her other half. If you deny her other half she would for sure grow insane. And we wouldn't want that now would we? Anyway I wanted to go outside and speak to you about going and seeing Indigo."
"Why?"
"I want to learn more about vampires. See if there's a way this girl can live without having human blood."
"Brianna she's a-"
One glare from me shut her up. She sighed heavily as she gently pushed me back.
"It's dangerous for you and the girl to be in the woods this time of day. I will go retrieve her for you. In the meantime just stay inside."
Pouting a bit I do as she says.
"Did you clean your wound?"
"Yes."
"Good. I swear Brianna if she does anything, anything at all I'll-"
"I get it. You can go now."As soon as Freia left I could see how disappointed Revena was.
"Hey. What's wrong?""She doesn't like me."
"You want Freia to like you?"
"She's your mate yes?"
I was surprised by her question. But none the less I nodded. She suddenly pointed to me as she spoke.
"Y-Your my mother now. You saved me from being sacrificed. And if you are now my mother that means Freia is my mother as well or father. I don't want her to hate me. And that's all I can see when she looks at me."
"Hey. She doesn't hate you. She just doesn't understand you. I'm sure with time she will come to love you like I have. It just takes a little time."
She leaned against me making my heart melt. She wasn't cold but she wasn't warm either. She was like me. A human. And that's what I'm going to see her as.
