"Fengjiu, listen I--"
"I don't want to listen, I-"
Dijun kissed her. Her world lit up like fireworks, he clearly was inexperienced with kissing, but oddly she found that cute.Wait, what was I doing again?
She pushed him away, "Don't think you can explain this away with a kiss! You better explain properly."
Dijun looked at the ground, "I felt jealous of Wen Chang, how could you even think to accept other people after being with me? I just want to be with you regardless of whether it's this life or in the mortal life, or even the next li--"Dijun was now looking at her earnestly.
"Stop ok I get it." Fengjiu refusing to look into his eyes, turned away, her cheeks flushing.
"Fengjiu, could you forgive me?"
"Ok, ok I forgive you stop this, since when were you this.."Fengjiu stopped. She was completely helpless against the Dijun that was willing to bend this low for her, even her anger for him tricking her had vanished into thin air.
"Just don't trick me again.".
"Of course." Dijun said, Fengjiu didn't notice that he there he said the words with a little hesitation.
"Why didn't you tell me you were Dijun, I could have gotten you to help me with my work faster. See look at the work stacked up."Fengjiu said pouting.
Dijun looked at the work piled up almost reaching the ceiling and sighed. He wasn't a really good immortal either and the stack of paperwork was one of the reasons he didn't want to the ruler of the immortal realm, unfortunately, it looks like he would have to deal with it regardless.
He picked up one of the papers on the stack and began reading it out,"From suitor He Chiang, dearest Fengjiu, you are as pretty as the sun on a rising beach..."Fengjiu made an attempt to snatch the paper out of his hands.
"as beautiful as the flowers blossoming in the autumn..tsk tsk, fengjiu you're suitor needs to do some researching before he writes things" Dijun said laughingly.
"Don't laugh!"Fengjiu said, finally snatching the paper out of his hands.
"Compared to them, aren't I a great catch."Dijun said winking.
"Don't make me vomit, I'm probably the only woman who can stand you."Fengjiu said, rolling her eyes.
And so, they resumed their normal dynamic.
Days passed, all seemed good and well, but as the proverb goes good things never last.
Fengjiu found that the times Dijun could come varied. Sometimes, it would be every day but then there would be a week where there was no news of him at all.She reflected on whether she was too clingey, after all even if you had a partner, you did have to give them some space, though that didn't mean they went without contact for a week! When she asked Si Ming, he only said his lordship was doing something important, but refused to reveal the details.
When she pressed Dijun for details, he tried brushing it off, but told her it was something he had to do for them.
Dijun's pov
"Are the preparations complete?"He asked Si Ming."Yeah, I already asked Ye hua to take complete control, he is the future ruler already, it is his obliged task. Though he asked if there was something up. What should I say to him?"
"Nothing. He'll understand soon enough." Time was up. He couldn't stall any longer. He just wanted to continue staying by his Fengjiu's side longer. Though it looked like he wouldn't be able to do that. He wanted to be with her forever. Though....maybe he wouldn't be able to do that anymore. He looked at the three life stone, how could a mere stone determine their fate? Their fate should be theirs alone! No one else should interfere!
"Tell Fengjiu that if I don't come back ...she shouldn't wait for me." Si Ming shocked, asked "Your lordship, you're going to do it today?"
"Yeah, if I succeed I can change our fate, otherwise even if I stay by her side how long would it take for me to eventually lose my magic and die, its best now, when I still have the magic to change our fate."
"I'll just miss my lively fiery fox."He said looking at the image of Fengjiu he had conjured, he laughed when she flicked the head of the fox he gave her, muttering something.
I'm not going to say a proper goodbye, because if I do, I'm scared that I may really not come back. Fengjiu, you'll understand me right?
With that, he started chanting an ancient magic known to only a few select people and casted the spell. In what seemed like minutes, but in reality felt like seconds, a huge blast erupted. Magic that went against the laws of the universe would damage the caster. But he never knew that the effects would be so huge. Did he fail after all? He glanced at his body, his body was slowly turning illusionary, right before his eyes, his hand was disappearing. So destiny couldn't be changed after all. Was his effort futile? Maybe not, though, one thing changed, he looked at the three life stone.
The name beside Fengjiu had changed from Wen Chang to Dijun.
"Tell her to wait for me."
