The Masked Man

CHAPTER 6: WRONG WORDS

Jack is being smothered by this little lady. After awhile of smothering Jack she let's go of him and hugs William and Henry.

"You must be Jack's friends!" she shouts while crushing their spines "Jack told me all about you two!"

"You must...be Lily?" says William with what little air he has in his lungs and tries to let out a smile.

Jack finally intervenes and separates Lily from the two of them and pats her on her shoulder.

"Sorry,I just got a bit excited ,but after all I'm just so happy to meet my husband's friends!" as she says that she grabs Jack's arm and gives him a big hug. Henry seems a bit bothered about all this so William introduces himself to cut the tension.

"I'm William and this is Henry ,but I'm guessing you already knew that." says William as he shakes her hand "You must be Lily nice to meet you."

"Yes that's me!" says Lily "How about we head in where the real party is!"

She drags Jack by his arm and takes him into the mansion,but before Henry and William run after them William tries talking to Henry.

"Why are you so upset about this shouldn't you happy for him?" asks William confronting Henry

"Yes, I'm super duper happy that my friend is being forced into marriage!" sighs Henry

"He says his happy!"

"We both know that Jack is only saying that so we both don't feel bad for him."

"Jack isn't the naive kid he used to be his grown up now and he changed during the years we haven't seen him." Says William but Henry seems to just ignore him. "It's not like I'm completely fine with this ,but this has nothing to do with us and even if we tried something there's nothing we can do!"

William starts storming off towards the party ,but as he storms off Henry shouts something purely out of anger.

"Your just too busy with that case to care about Jack mabye if you were a good detective you would of found out who the killer was and mabye Sarah wouldn't had died!"

"What did you say...." says William as he turns around to face Henry,but his too ashamed to repeat it.

"William...I'm sorry...I was angry...I didn't mean what I said."

"So Sarah's death is on me?"

"No! I didn't mean that!"

William just walks off as Henry tries to apologize.

"Wait!" shouts Henry following William into the mansion only to lose him in the crowd of guests. He tries his best to move around the crowd to find William,but fails and instead finds Jack and Lily who are both greeting a women.

"Hey,Jack have you seen William anywhere?" said Henry as he interrupts their conversation.

"How rude didn't you see we're were talking!" shouts the women crossing her arms clearly angry.

"He didn't mean it I'm sorry ." says Jack as he turns towards Henry and they both walk away from Lily and the other one to one of balconies to get more privacy.

"You should be careful my aunt isn't the forgiving type." sighs Jack as he ruffles his hair.

"So that's your aunt the one who forced you into marriage?"

"Yes,but I wouldn't say forced..."

Henry looks behind Jack back at his aunt and gives her a slight death stare but quickly tries to get back to what he was trying to say. He takes a deep breath and remembers what he was trying to say.

"Have you seen William anywhere Jack?"

"No,why did something happen."

Clearly Jack can notice the worry on Henry's face. Henry takes a seat on one of the sides of the balcony. He tenses up and then let's out a big sigh. Jack takes a seat next to him.

"What's wrong?" He asks Henry as he buries his face in his hands.

"I may have said some unkind words to him...well unkind is just the tip of the iceberg..."

"What did you say?" asks Jack ,but Henry doesn't answer and instead he looks at the ground. " Well if I know William like I think I do I know he'll forgive you." Jack pats him on the back to make him feel better. Jack gets up and then helps Henry up. "How about we go look for him and enjoy the rest of the night."

After searching for awhile Henry and Jack finds William near the snack table eating some of the appetizers by himself. Henry waves at William but he just looks the other way.

"Hey,Will can we talk?" asks Henry ,but William continues to ignore him.

"I'm gonna leave you two to talk this out." Jack turns away to leave but Henry grabs his sleeve.

"Can't you help me talk to him?"

Jack whispers in his ear "It's better if you talk this out alone with him." Henry let's go of Jack and then he walks closer to William.

"I'm sorry for what I said I didn't mean it.."

"You sure about that?" says William eyeing him down.

"Yes and I know this case has been hard on you and I'm sorry your a great detective and I know you'll find this killer."

"But I guess what you said is true." William continues to eat the appetizers as Henry looks at him with a puzzled expression. "After all it's my job to keep people safe and I'm failing everyone including Sarah and all the others his killed."

"That's not true!" shouts Henry "Anyone would've given up by now ,but your still trying to find him so don't give up now!"

William looks at Henry and let's out a sigh.

"I forgive you and thanks I'll won't give up so don't worry." William sighs again and let's out a small smile. "How about we enjoy the rest of the night shall we?"

Henry gives William a small hug. "Now that's what I'm talking about!" They both start looking for Jack ,but then they hear a bloodcurdling girlish scream. They look where it came from and they see Lily being held by knife point by the masked man himself.....
