Authors note: This chapter is the beginning of the time when I have fully become the character I was playing, in other words, this story's main character, Jay. A lot of this book might be difficult to understand because this dream was never in a straight line. One moment I could be dying in a desert and the next I'm drowning in an ocean. I'll fill in pieces of the story with fantasy parts when the transition between scenes in the dream is impossible to put in words. During a lucid dream fake and reality can become intertwined in a way that's impossible to decipher, for example, I can remember a friend in real life, same personality, and character, but in the dream, they could have purple skin or multiple arms and everything to me feels normal. In situations where new characters "pop out of bushes" or randomly "walk into the room" it's most likely because within the dream Id imagined them into existence on accident. Same with characters we all know and love, for example, the avengers and the crew from the guardians of the galaxy. In my mind=in the dream. Yeah, not everything is controlled. In fact very little of it is.
SOME CHAPTERS MAY RANDOMLY CHANGE SCENES OR NOT CONTINUE OFF OF THE PREVIOUS CHAPTER, THIS IS PURPOSEFUL!
Also, some parts of this might come as completely random, it's because I'm writing to you from what I dreamt, some of you might be riding rainbows on the back of a flying otter, so shush.

I patted the shoulder of the dappled mare, whom Id chose to call Hedge after a tug of odd familiarity pulled me towards the name. I was sitting bareback on her, trotting on a trail that was lined with lush ferns. The trail itself was of cobblestone, which made satisfying Clonk clonk clonk's as we walked over it. Another horse followed close by, with another behind it. Two men rode them, a younger fellow named William and a middle-aged man called Gillian. They were apart of the scouting company, along with myself that had been sent ahead to ensure the safe passage of a cargo-hauling mission crew who had crash-landed in The Divide. The Divide is a section of northern America that was equally balanced in Canada and America. It is hidden from sight as powerful magic coats the land, harmlessly moving people away from it. The cargo crew had been sent by the Avengers to gather resources, and fearing their lives they had given up the information of a galactic war against Thanos, who was described as a beast of a purple man.
I myself knew of this fellow, as I had had a few entanglements with him in previous years. To me, he was just a dried up prune. Dangerous none-the-less. Id asked Gillian and William to come with me, to ensure the cargo of advanced tech materials made it safely to the Avengers. Id had plenty of interactions with them before, they'd tried to recruit me because of my certain abilities and the weaponry I had on me. When Id said no, Shield came in, attempting to bribe me with publicity and heaps of money. When id said no, they'd tried to force me, launching an ambush on me when they thought I didn't expect it. The Avengers and I didn't have the best relationship, but their goals are admirable and whatever this cargo crew has, they need.
"Jay, you're lost in thought again," Gillian called up to me, his voice drawing nearer as his horse pulled up next to mine. "Thinking about the Avengers again? I know you didn't have the best...interaction with them." I looked over to him, my face slack.
"I am thinking about them, yes." I knew my reply wasn't the most impressive, but it satisfied Gillian.
"Are you worried about what they'll do? How they'll react?" Gillian always asked questions, but I didn't mind answering them. His questions were almost always good ones. Ones that gave me something to think about.
"I already have an idea of what they'll do, as well as I, believe I know how ill react. It all depends on how calm we all are in the situation. We both know the Avengers dislike a threat and they choose to destroy it without hesitation." Gillian nodded to my answer, and he slowed down, returning to his position behind me. Everything drew quite once more.
I knew the avenger's headquarters would be coming up, and a bunch of armored people riding on the back of horses, followed by a beaten-up and bloodstained crew wouldn't exactly pass-through security.
"Stay here guys, they know me, so they'll more than likely let me in." Or attack me. Gillian and William nodded and stopped moving as I urged Hedge into a canter than a gallop, racing across the more and more modern road until I we reached a security gate and a rather top-notch-looking security guard. I grew slightly self-conscious as we arrived at the gate, I knew I looked a lot like a reenactor, but It's too late to change now."Halt! State your name and the reason you are here." Hedge and I slowed to a halt and I glanced over the security guard, taking in his weaponry and deciphering who he possibly could be. I saw nothing of suspicion, his firearm was a simple one, only of lead bullets. Hardly harmful to the lightweight armor I have on.
"My name is Jay, I'm here to deliver cargo to the Avengers." I meant no harm to the security guard, so id chose to allow him to think he was in charge, and followed along with his orders. For now, at least.
"I'm sorry, did you say your name was Jay?" I nodded, I knew he'd connected the name to my character. The Avengers probably told all the security guards about our interactions, as well as given pictures of me and Gillian.
"That's correct. Look, you already know who I am, just let me in, please." The guard has begun to look aggressive, but whatever ideas he had of attacking were quelled, smartly. We stared at each other for a bit, playing a game of mental chicken with each other. Eventually, the guard backed down and sat back with a loud sigh.
"I'll let you in simply because you may be powerful, but the force of the avengers is more so." I hesitated, contemplating whether or not I should reply, but ended up shaking my head and urging Hedge onwards, through the slowly opening gate. A few yards into the compound I was joined by Gillian, who looked iron-eyed and tense.
"What are you doing here?" I asked him quietly, keeping my composure. He didn't look at me when he replied, "Making sure you are not walking into a trap. There's no way our arrival is one of a surprise to the Avengers. We're already being watched, just like there are three people currently rounding up the crew of the cargo ship. They think we don't know, but they underestimate us." It took me a while to think over the information.
"We could walk away now, Jay. We only came to deliver the crew." Gillian continued, re-positioning himself in his saddle. I shook my head, subconsciously I knew this journey meant more than just delivering a crew.
"I've got things to say and I need to say them. I don't think that they'll mind another opportunity to try and steal from me."
