PROTOTYPE: The Giant Insects Eater (プロトタイプ：巨蟲イーター Purototaipu: Kyochū Ītā)

Synopsis

The story takes place after the events of PROTOTYPE 2 (プロトタイプ２ Purototaipu 2), where Sergeant James Heller (ジェームズ・ヘラー軍曹 Jēmuzu Herā Gunsō) consumes Alex Mercer (アレックス・マーサー Arekussu Māsā), the main perpetrator who causes the first and second outbreak at New York (ニューヨーク Nyū Yōku) with the Blacklight Virus (ブラックライトウイルス Burakkuraito Uirusu), which also well-known as "Mercer Virus" (マーサーウイルス Māsā Uirusu) in public.

Now, this story follows a young man named Kurisu Amamiya (天宮 栗栖 ［アマミヤ・クリス］ Amamiya Kurisu), who was also infected with the said virus but eventually survives the effects due to his resilient DNA and becoming the third Prototype (プロトタイプ Purototaipu) instead, grants him superhuman abilities and transforming them into deadly shapeshifting beings of nearly limitless potential, power, and destruction.

In the present after silently leaves New York and returns to Japan, Kurisu slowly regained his normal life and becomes a student of the Private Houshou High School (私立鳳翔高等学園 Shiritsu Hōshō Kōtō Gakuen), where he has befriended with Mutsumi Oribe (織部 睦美 ［オリベ・ムツミ」 Oribe Mutsumi) and Chitose Naruse (成瀬 千歳 ［ナルセ・チトセ］ Naruse Chitose). But, one day, everything changed when the students went on a field trip before they were stranded on an island after the plane they were in got crashed.

They find out that the island was infested with gigantic insects, which sees humans as nothing more than food, forcing Kurisu to reveals his shapeshifting abilities to defend himself and the other students which frightened them of his shapeshifting abilities. Despite this, the survivors have no choice but to believe that Kurisu's shapeshifting abilities and Mutsumi's knowledge of insects might be the only way to escape from the giant insect-infested island.
