Pulling my long silvery blonde hair away from my eyes, I couldn't help rolling them before she even spoke. Sadie Shay was the biggest...b-word in my school.
"Why do you wear body glitter every day? I mean we're in school, not a strip club. Are you that desperate for attention?" Sadie said with a cruel glint in her brown eyes. The sad thing is I'm not wearing body glitter. It's just what happens when I'm around humans since I'm well... a winter Fae. Well, half a winter Fae at least. I don't have enough glamour to completely cover my true skin.
Before I could give her my witty reply the bell, signaling 4th period was beginning, began to ring. So following the advice of my 'handler' (as I call him) I turned and walked into my classroom two rows of lockers away from where I had been standing. Just looking at her ruins my mood so I chose to sit in the back of the class today instead of my usual seat up front.
'I don't know why she bothers tormenting me every day over my skin. She knows what I am. She knows I'm not human. And she knows if she ever tells another living soul she will instantly die. And it will be painful. It's a spell my people have had in place for centuries. If you betray a fae, you will be eternally punished. Suffice it to say we like our privacy.'
As Sadie sat down in her chair she swiveled and glared at me. Then smiled with an evil sparkle in her eyes, she said in a voice loud enough for Ms. Burmecai the English teacher to hear, "Ms. B, Rowan's constant need for glittery attention is a distraction and I don't think its fair that she can disrespect the dress code like that."
I snapped. "Would you just shut the hell up and leave me the fuck alone already?!" I instantly regretted my words when the teacher puffed up like a toad, not that it was much of difference. With a sigh, I buried my face in my hands, hiding my eye roll.
"Rowan White-ash, I have told you time and time again, do not use that filthy language in my classroom." She picked up the phone and pushed the button for the counselor's office. "What is your counselor's name... Matthew was it?"
"Something like that." I said grabbing my shoulder bag and walking up the aisle of desks when Sadie pushed her backpack right as I got close enough. Which of course means I face-planted in front of the whole class. She giggled with her bubble-headed floozy friends as I got up and straightened my black and orange plaid pleated skirt and matching black blazer, thankfully my mom insisted I wear leggings with my school uniform. Ms. Burmecai pointed an angry finger towards the door. I left.
'Sadie and I had been best friends once when we were children. So close, or so I had thought, that I had told her about my Fae side. She almost immediately started blackmailing me. Its been this way ever since. I will never trust someone like that again.'
I left the Northern Building of the school and leaned against the wall, starting my breathing exercises to help calm me down. Mattias had recently decided it was best to start teaching me such techniques to control my anger. He calls me his little 'heisse kopfchen'. Which means hot head in modern German. He just loves showing off that he's learned different languages over the years.
After a little while, I realized I'd wasted about 20 minutes and took off for the main office.
?????'s POV
'I couldn't stand watching that awful bitch Sadie torment my beautiful Rowan. She's simply jealous she will never be as amazing and beautiful as my Rowan. The bitch will pay for humiliating my love.'
