the moon is an orris-silver orb hanging on the clear night sky. lasers of moonlight, gleaming and shimmering, reflecting in the woods. It was indeed, a ravishing sight. But there is no time to appreciate this fancy view. Two hashiras from the demon slayer corps is sent out for a mission.
'my, my. aren't you as unsociable as ever, tomioka-san?' the insect pillar, kocho shinobu said while sprinting deep into the woods with her mission partner, the water pillar, tomioka giyuu. tomioka responded with silence. clearly, he does not want to talk.
'you know,' kocho turned her head to look at tomioka, ' we should get along.' then, she gave him a sweet smile. her smile is warm and gentle, as if an angel. with tomiokas's blank expression, he does not want to talk at all. he stilled listened to what she was saying, though.
'the moon is lovely, isn't it?' a familiar phrase was said.
-
encountering demons on their way, they eventually reunited. demons were killed everywhere. it wasn't a splendid sight, it was bloody. by the time, it was already morning. they are heading back. kocho keeps on teasing tomioka as if nothing ever happened.
suddenly, tomioka decided to speak, 'what do you mean by "the moon is lovely"?' he has heard of it quite some times from her. this bothers him a little.
but kocho, of course, knows what she meant. she would not just tell him the meaning bluntly , wouldn't she? playing with words, she told him the same sentence twice already. tomioka does not seems to understand.
'well,' she said, beaming, 'you'll have to figure it out yourself.'
-
many months has pasted. they was sent on a mission again, to the spider mountain. there, tomioka heard of the phrase, 'the moon is lovely, isn't it' again. tomioka's curiosity took over him. he decided to find out what it means.
of course, they met a boy names tanjiro, along with his friends and his sister.
-
tomioka took a liking to tanjiro.
one day, he went to ask him, 'tanjiro. what does "the moon is lovely, isn't it" means?' tanjiro shook his head, he doesn't seem to know the answer. beside tanjiro, was his friend, zenitsu.
'UWAAAAAA!! who said this to you?' zenitsu was in shock. 'who said this to y-you?' he asked, still very shocked. 'kocho did.' tomioka replied, calmly. 'i've heard of it for three times already. i don't know what it means.'
zenitsu, who was more in shock, very surprised, screaming and yelling on the ground. then he got up. 'KOCHO? AS IN, THE INSECT PILLAR??' he yelled, then stared at him. 'what's so good about y-' then inosuke came to interrupt the conversation and decided to drag zenitsu away.
'ah..' tomioka was going to ask zenitsu, because he looks like to knew the answer. but he hesitated. afterwards, he planned to ask zenitsu later.
-
'ara ara, fancy seeing you here, tomioka-san.' kocho waved. giyuu was injured, so he went to the butterfly mansion for treatments. 'ah. hello.' tomioka said.
he then sat on the chair next to kocho. kocho took a look at him, 'you don't look like you're hurt, tomioka-san.' kocho smiled like always. then, tomioka pulled up his sleeves, and there it was, a deep scar on the left arm. 'ara! are you alright?' kocho looked worried, or rather, surprised. tomioka shook his head and thought to himself, ' do i look alright?'
as shinobu was treating him, she told him to rest well too. she looked worried. she wasn't very happy. tomioka thought he made kocho fed up because he always injures himself. he thought that kocho didn't want to see him. '
i'm sorry.' he said, like it was nothing. 'hm? what did you say?' kocho titled her head, confused. he continued on, 'sorry for coming, you don't want to see me right?'
(why hello there. this is author-san. this scene is so cringe so may you please bare with me. well, not like you can refuse lol. i'll try not to make this more cringy :( i tried.)
kocho smiled sweetly. she looked at him straight into the eyes and said, 'well, you're wrong. rather than me not wanting to see you, i don't want to see you getting hurt.' then she bandaged him firmly.
tomioka thought for a few long seconds. he then came into a conclusion. 'ah.' he said suddenly. so suddenly that it gave kocho a small fright. 'hm? what it is?' she asked, then after bandaging him, she went to record something down on a paper next to her.
'so you're worried.' tomioka said, feeling slightly contented. he thought that except her sister and her friends, nobody would care for him. he feel like being taken care of, like how his sister took care of him.
kocho went red. 'ara, excuse me. what?' then she said, 'all i said is i don't see you getting hurt.' she went mad red, covering her face.
'oh.' tomioka smiled. 'i see.'
kocho put her hands down. tomioka rarely smiles, and when he did, kocho always thought is was weird. but that, was warm and gentle.
kocho went red again, in fact, she couldn't stop it. 'u-uh. sumi, kiyo, naho! take tomioka-san to rest.' she has to end her embarrassment.
but tomioka didn't feel anything. in fact. kocho being red made him puzzled.
-
tomioka rested in the butterfly mansion. at night, he always thought about what 'the moon is lovely, isn't it' meant and why kocho went red. on the other hand, kocho suddenly had three sneezes.
