.:. Okay... truth be told, I wasn't going to upload this one for a while, but I made a promise and I have to keep that promise. Well, anyways, it's about 12:45 here and I woke up at 7 this morning thinking that I had to go to school... which I didn't have to. But, I can't really be mad at the weather since it's getting me out of another day of school. I haven't even gone to school one day yet this week!! :) Just one more day to go (after tomorrow) anyways, thank Adi1607 for this chapter and hate me because it's crappy! Oh and this is just part of the chapter .:.
Chapter 7
I walk down the long hallway with my teal dress swishing around me. I totally and completely hate dresses now. Not only are the uncomfortable, but you also, you almost always have to wear heels; me, plus heels, equal disaster. I sigh as I look over at Evelyn. I hate to admit it, but she did my hair amazingly. Little pieces are braided while most of my hair is just plain curly.
"Why do I have to go again?" I whine for the fifth time within the last half-hour. Evelyn sighs and looks at me annoyed.
"I've told you this twenty-five times already!" she says while we turn a corner.
"It's actually twenty-eight times," I correct her while she throws me a glare.
"Why don't you want to see your parents?" she asks finally realizing why I don't want to go. I scowl at the window we pass overlooking a beautiful crystal clear lake. Tall pine trees surround the lake like a shield while the sky above turns to a crimson color as the sun finally settles over the hill. I sigh and look back up at Eve through the corner of my eye.
"They seem weak," I say honestly, as I wash Eve's expression go from angry to shock.
"Why do you think that?" she asks as she stares at me and I sigh.
"Well, think about it. They gave me up just because I said some prophecy. That seems pretty weak to me," I say while shrugging my shoulders. Eve is about to say more but we come to a dead end in front of a huge wooden door. I hear Eve sigh and get in front of me.
"Behave tonight," she says and I smile at her.
"Whatever you say mother," I say while giggling at her expression. She just rolls her eyes at me before moving in front of the door squaring her shoulders and holding her head high. I fix the small tiara on top of my head even thought it was perfect. Dang nerves, how I wish you would die! The wooden doors creak open revealing a large crowd.
"Now presenting, Lady Evelyn," an announcer on the other side says loudly. Evelyn strides out of the room with her head high and her hands clasped behind her back. When we were getting ready, Evelyn told me to wait exactly five minutes until I step up to the now closed doors. I sigh as I mentally count out five, agonizing, minutes. Have you ever noticed that when you're dreading something the most, that's when time, decides to slow down?
After five minutes of trying not to lose count in my head, I step up to the door calmly and with my head high. I don't really care what these people think of me, but since I'm going to be staying here for a while, I might as well leave a lasting impression. I just hope that it's a good one.
