Home sweet home

The orphanage wasn't anything pretty to look at, at least if you asked Merlin. To him, it looked more like an asylum than a "home" for children. The big, dark building was anything but welcoming, and the stern face of their caretaker wasn't either.

"You're two hours and twenty minutes late," The raspy voice of Mrs. Decker screeched.

"Yeah, the plane was behind schedule, and when we landed, I couldn't find a payphone." It wasn't exactly a lie; it just wasn't the full truth. It was the portkey that was something wrong with, and he had to wait an hour and a half to get to the hill, then he took a long way home.

"Well, get inside; it's still a little cold outside." She grabbed one of his bags and walked back inside. Merlin followed with his trunk.

It was past dinner, but Mrs. Decker had asked Sara Miller to make Merlin two sandwiches. Sara and Merlin were no friends, but they could talk together about almost anything, mainly the stars.

"So any cute British boys you can set me up with?"

"No, I am not setting you up with anyone."

"So, no, you don't have any friends, got it."

"I do have friends."

"Alright, what's their name."

"Charlie Weasley and Nymphadora Tonks"

"So you finally made some friends. How?"

"I hit Charlie in the head with a heavy book when he was racist and told him to grow up."

"That's not how you make friends." Sara was absolutely horrified. She knew exactly how strong Merlin is. It must have hurt.

"Well, they say we are so, so I guess that is how I made those my friends."

Merlin then continued to tell Sara about his school year, and she told him about hers. She knew all about magic since she goes to Ilvermorny.
